My daughter got a macBook and gave me her old HP ze4900. I took her HD out and put another one (4oGB) in and downloaded Puppy 5.2.5 and burned a CD. I know the HD is good because it was I kept in a USB adapter and used for temp backups, etc.
I first tried the cd on my even older HP N5150 which already dual boots Puppy 4.2.1 and XP. It booted up no problem with the 5.2.5 live cd. I then put it in the ze4900 and while it booted I only got the bottom task bar. No desktop background ar icons, It didn't even ask about the start settings, timezone, display resolution, etc I was still able to get the network (it used the b43 module) working going through the menu to get to Barry's LAN setup.
Why no setpup window, background or icons?
