Cross platform, hmmm
1. since puppy does not have it, try using the windows installer.
2.On this forum, go to additional pets, virtualisation, wine. And grab wine 1.2.2
3.install wine.
4.Install torcs.exe
5. Now, go to quickpet, drivers. Press on the test, and install the recommended drivers.
6. Play. If directx is needed, follow more

install directx.
1. Google for cabextract.pet. It should come from this forum.
2. Install cabextract
3. On terminal, type 'winetricks d3dx9' without quotes

hi 2-e

is that the torcs.sfs you have there? And can you also tell us what puppy version you have, and whether it is a full install or frugal install (a frugal install has a savefile)

About previous version, see here for a puppy-report: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=39476. Pay attention to the required dependencies...

Important info...
Official site wrote:

Linux Binary with Installer (1.3.0)

This binary is dynamically linked, be aware that it is possible that this does not work on your system. If you try it anyway please report any problems or as well successful installs, such that we can improve it (without feedback this is not possible, of course the installer works on our systems). You can get it here. Install it with "torcs-1.3.0-linux-glibc-2.3-pIII.bz2.run". To resolve missing dynamic libraries you can run "torcs -l" (have a look at the command line options). It requires at least a Pentium 3 compatible CPU to run.

Above quote basically means that should work only extracting the files...

Did you tried that?
Are you missing some deps?

Sorry for the delay guys. This is my first time on any forum. I didn't see any messages upon sign in. I have puppy 5.25 booting from the cd. When I download torcs racing simulator, it asks which application to open it with.

This seems strange because the option to download this game was in quick pet "news".

That's an SFS file...
Download it by clicking in the link and save it (don't open it, choose SAVE) in your /mnt/home. You could save it wherever you want, but you'll have to move it to /mnt/home in order to add this SFS trough BootManager app.
Also, be aware of the size ~140 MB.

just to add to what GustavoYz says. you will find the bootmanager in the menu / system / bootmanager configure bootup. then 'choose which extra sfs to load at boot'.

Do you have a save file? If yes, where?

There are no .sfs files listed. This is the problem. Which one do I need and where do I get it. My save file is on a hard drive partition. Thanks everyone for your help so far.

Did you get the SFS? OK, then move it to mnt/home and re-run the BootManager.

I saved the file and reran the boot manager. There is nothing telling me exactly which file, sfs., app., etc. torcs racing simulator needs to use. Maybe I am not explaining it correctly or I just don't understand. Thanks again.

ok, yr back 2-e.
Ok, put the SFS in the root of yr hdd or usb
now, reboot the computer. The bootmanager should pop up.
Add the sfs into the boot manager.
If it does not work, there's two ways.
1. Simpliest. Use wine
2. When the puppy load screen appears, type 'puppy pfix=ram' without quotes. Create the savefile AT THE ROOT OF THE HDD WITH THE SFS! Reboot, and choose the new savefile. Bootmanager will appear.

Thanks for your help. I don't think I'm explaining it properly or I don't know enough about computers to understand your responses. That's all for now.
