Puppy on the Acer Aspire One...

#1 Post by 1050rat »

Hi all and the drinks are on me.....;-)

I recently switched from Ubuntu Netbook Remix to Puppy and am enjoying the experience so far (even after locking myself out tonight at boot login and having to reinstall to fix my inability to read instructions/login as root woofwoof/ then change password as required doh..)

I have but three wishes to make my puppy experience (house trained?) complete :

1 To get the touchpad vertical window scroll facility working again
2 To get my Fn volume arrow up / down keys working again
3 To get the bast**d son of a webcam Acer Crystal Eye functioning in Skype where currently a test shows nothing even in guvcview it won't work. I have had it working but only for brief spells and then it kinda goes off....;-(

Does anyone have any experience of these issues on the AAO using the latest version of Puppy 5.2.5 they could help me with / point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

AAOis very many different computers. I have two. Acer AAO D250 and D255 and them behave very differently to OS.

I need to use nosmp on Lupu 525 to trust that it boots each time.

Password and log in. I've used puppy since at least 2008 and have never had to do such. I guess you are talking full install and setting a password for to booting in then. I have no idea if that is common or not?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

"My Acer Aspire one is a D250 10" and using N270 CPU also Atheros
and I also ahve trouble with 1024x600 at times and the best Puppy I have used are Fluppy010 that Jemimah has done but you should also
try pemasu's Snowy Puppy and that one are very good too.
I use both of them. "

I have also replaced recent unity-based Ubuntu with Fluppy013 pupplet.
No bloatware anymore.
