@Jim3630 did you get the PETs from these from the PPM? I would like to repeat steps via Live media.

Thanks in advance
gcmartin, picked all three up here on the forum, iirc ge 6.03.217 is available via ppm but don't recall the repo off hand. below are some others that work so far in ip14 that might be of interest. enjoy jim

GoNgetIT - Ubuntu Package Downloader for Puppy

Many thanks :)
Been using 013 and now 014 and in both versions
when editing text in the browser (for example in the forum)
the spell checker that underlines my many spelling mishtakes
is not activated? Apart from learning to spell
is there something I need to do
to avoid pemasu having a heart attack? :?

Lobster. You are right about spell checking. The Firefox I downloaded straight from Mozilla seems to lack dictionaries.

To get spell checking working. Type to any text box like this forum post box more than 2 rows whatever. Right click then the text box, select Languages and you will be redirected to the selection site. Download for example swahili, install it and restart Firefox. There you go.

Hmm, next question where does the dictionary be downloaded so that I could include finnish and gb_english as default. us_english people I will leave out. Lol. Just kidding.

EDIT: /root/.mozilla/firefox/he02dffd.default/extensions/en-GB@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org

And so we have learned something new which we didnt know before. This is good morning :)

Good catch Lobster.

Java problem

As I remember, JAVA apps are suppose to run on any platform that has JAVA,

I installed JAVA from Quickset after downloading each, ICE and SNOW. Then I installed 2 apps for network use; namely DPUP5520
's AngryIP and IPmonitor. Neither runs.

But on PUP525, they run OK.

Is thre something special about ICE/SNOW? s there something I'm missing in my logic? These should be running, but they aren't.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I dont think so. I have run java apps just fine. There is nothing special with Ice Puppy or Snow Puppy regarding java apps.

Just tested again. I installed java_jre-6u22-Lucid-sfs4.sfs with sfs on the fly and then I run acpitool_gui which is java application. It runs just fine.

Indeed the more pets tab from quick pet don't download java ( nor other pet's) and thus don't install them.
Running Snowpup 020.

When I select OpenOffice I get a pop-up saying I have to install puppy first.
Very funny.

Hopefully, someone will prepare some pets for this for the nvidia drivers.

Thanaks,

Just tested java again. http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... d-sfs4.sfs

I loaded that java.sfs with sfs on the fly and then I installed angry ip pet.
It run ok for me.
About java pets, I dont know much of them, I dont use java any other form than sfs.

But here is a link to the lates lucid puppy java pet I found: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... 6.0.22.pet

Packages-puppy-lucid-official does not show all the stuff there is in lupu repo. Here is straight link, so that people can find the stuff straight.
I usually use straight repo access with browser.
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... ages-lucid
About those funny errors. 01mickos sfs get needs that you have made savefile and have /mnt/home existing.
Open Office probably needs same thing because it is so big download. Yes, I get the error of missing /mnt/home. I am running without savefile atm.

Sorry about responding so lamely. I am atm playing with Polarpup which will have full qt4 4.80 libs and development environment in devx.sfs. It will have also basic gstreamer support.
I have now second processing going because first one lacked libs for Handbrake. Some of those Qt apps unfortunately drags support libs with them. I have had to strip some previous stuff out so the build is not turbo IcePuppy.
Kernel is freshly compiled 2.6.38-4 intel atom optimization low latency highmem+pae kernel.
Qt4 applications so far QtWebbrowser, Arora web browser, Smplayer, latest Umplayer, Juffed, Qwriter, Qx11grab, Handbrake, Scribus, EasyImageSizer, Screengrab. Separately you can add VLC 1.10, Mscore, Lmms or those Qt apps which are around forum. Mostly they have needed Qt libs included so I have tested some of them by removing those Qt libs. That way Billtoos VLC shrink from 42 mb to 8 mb and still worked. I made new sfs of it.
And also most stuff from IcePuppy/SnowPuppy, with good and bad.
It will be my OS anyway so no sized down Puppy, there are so many of them around anyway.

Hold on. I am going back to earlier versions. I will report back soon on this JAVA occurrence!!!

For a java application to run, the system must know where your java binary is.
In a console issue PATH=<the path to your java binary>:$PATH

I created from sfs jre 1.25 version pet. I will upload both of them when I have uploaded Polarpup. Later today.
That java pet worked also for me. Angry Ip started ok.
