Lobster. You give me repeatedly tachycardia with your findings, lol.
I am right now designing Ice Puppy-014 with working puppyinstaller, if my fix works. I am also updating some applications.

Sorry  am being sent to Mars as a punishment

013 (fresh install) went very well
So far used browser, chat and Transmission
without incident
Is there an ATI Radeon crystal graphics pet compile yet?
Would like to use Openshot.

If you want the wiki page modified (and do not feel like registering) let me know 8)

Lobster. I might register due to you made announcement there. Sorry, I really havent time to make graphics driver pets.
My time has went with qt4 libs creating, application compiling and learning qt4 and cmake behavior. And struggling with puppyinstaller.
New Qt4 libs are not yet installed in Ice Puppy or Snow Puppy. I would like to get rid of python if I can find qt4 radio streaming application insted of Streamtuner2. I really do hate Python with its needs of modules all the time. And i hate PyQt4 also, lol.
Only candidate so far has been YaRock and it needs full gstreamer support. Choices...choices...

Ice Puppy 013 live multi-session cd on the old dual-core I just assembled a few days ago.
Sound and internet good on initial boot but had to start "nox" and choose the vesa driver........ no problem after first save to cd though.

 No worries. You may have told me that before - sorry if I
forgot . . .

I have 013 working on a second computer - sort of
the memory is in the red (only thing I added is Flash)
and the graphics - I think it choose Vesa
- it might crash - will send and edit this post
Update - yep adobe Flash crashed almost immediately after the first send of post and locked up Firefox
- wait Firefox (after 2 minutes has closed itself.)
Memory still in the red.
Other things happening. CPU was in the red - returning back down
so again it is a takedown by Flash.

The wifi connection was easy to set up
Lucid 525 works OK on this second machine
after creating a save file (I am running in 'live CD' mode)
I found the wifi is not persistent but FIrefox seems much happier.
Need to use the system a bit . . .

- incidentally I am using this on my 'standing desk computer'

Good luck with 014 :)

Lobster. I believe that core2 optimization is not for every older processors good choice. AMD Sempron has been problematic before.
I am right now making Ice Puppy-014. Then is time to make bug fix release of Snow Puppy-020.

Next will be creating Polarpup with Qt4 4.8.0 libs inbuild and get rid of Python. That version comes with Smplayer and Umplayer. VLC is just too problematic to compile in Lucid Puppies. It takes too much my time to solve all the obstacles. And Smplayer and Umplayer are smaller together than VLC. Also Gnome-mplayer and gecko-mediaplayer will be included.
Kernel will be probably 2.6.38.4 low latency intel atom optimization with highmem+pae.

After that or in between is time to compile Intel Atom optimization 2.6.38 kernel. And maybe that conservative 486 without highmem+pae.

Man. I wish the evenings and spare time would be longer. Cant you loan hours from future months or clone yourself to do three things same time.

Ice Puppy-014 is uploaded. Mainly 014 is bug fix release for puppyinstaller. Pmusic updated to 1.8.3, Default Programs Chooser added, Gnome-Mplayer 1.0.3 recompiled with libmusicbrainz3 support, GonGetIt added, disable-touchpad-when-writing functionality added.

Did ip14 frugal hdd on ext4 install. added sea monkey21rcl, google earth 6.03.217, celestia 160, all work as expected including the universal installer. I use sea monkey without flash.

Broadcom_ip10_.100.82.38-lupe22 pet added and works without issue.

What didn't work on my HP is the disable-touchpad-when-writing feature.

Noted glx gears has the highest numbers to date.

Jim3630. Thank you of your initial report. Good to hear that we are back on the basics.

About touchpad disabling when writing feature. I noticed that syndaemon does not work before you have clicked the Flsynclient launcher in Menu, get the message about restarting X, restart X accordingly and then the syndaemon works. I believe it needs these steps only once. You can activate the feature after above steps by clicking /root/Startup/disable_touchpad_writing. It should work with subsequent reboots automatically after these prochedures.

pemasu, had done the Flsynclient launcher and now after clicking /root/Startup/disable_touchpad_writing rebooted and it works! Yes! Have lost much work before so I usually disable my touchpad. Now have a better solution.

pemasu and CoronelN thank you.

One issue, no one IIRC has mentioned is duel monitors. connected to a large screen from this HP the display looks good up to 1900x900 but the lap top display is not filled. Looks like a box shape on the display. This only happens in Ice Puppy even if the resolution is 1080x780. In Snow Puppy both lap top and big screen displays fill the screen area.

Wonder why in ip and not sp?

Wolf is not in the repos any reason why or just oversight? thanks again jim

Jim3630. What graphics driver do you use ?
What is that wolf which should be in the repos ?

EDIT. If you mean woof repo, there is good reason. Read Barrys blog. There isnt woof repo anymore. So I dont include it. Lol.

Appreciate that, so was surprised it ran at all.
After the initial save (another thing I forgot to mention was the DVD kept spinning for no reason) the problems including the DVD spinning all stopped
AND I was able to use 013, browser, xchat etc succesfully
Man. I wish the evenings and spare time would be longer. Cant you loan hours from future months or clone yourself to do three things same time.

Not yet.
An interesting question would be: If the neurological brain was uploaded temporarily to a computer storage facility and then added to 3 clones, would you be in 3 places at once? How cool would that be?

OK have downloaded 014
running ok - no probs setting up
GonGetIt - where, what is that?

Many thanks :)
Been using 013 and now 014 and in both versions
when editing text in the browser (for example in the forum)
the spell checker that underlines my many spelling mishtakes
is not activated? Apart from learning to spell
is there something I need to do
to avoid pemasu having a heart attack? :?

Lobster. You are right about spell checking. The Firefox I downloaded straight from Mozilla seems to lack dictionaries.

To get spell checking working. Type to any text box like this forum post box more than 2 rows whatever. Right click then the text box, select Languages and you will be redirected to the selection site. Download for example swahili, install it and restart Firefox. There you go.

Hmm, next question where does the dictionary be downloaded so that I could include finnish and gb_english as default. us_english people I will leave out. Lol. Just kidding.

EDIT: /root/.mozilla/firefox/he02dffd.default/extensions/en-GB@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org

And so we have learned something new which we didnt know before. This is good morning :)

Good catch Lobster.
