I want to move full-time to puppy. I want it to be my main OS. I think it's great, I love the philosophy of it, I'm impressed by the community and I love how snappy it runs. I've been using linux full-time or pretty much full-time for a few years now (ubuntu).
For a few weeks now I have been searching the forums, searching the web, trying any number of different puppies and puplets and I've finally given in and look to you all to please guide me in this.
Here's my issue:
My laptop is around 5 or so years old and uses a 64mb ATI Radeon Mobility x600 gpu... And then around late 2008 ATI decided to change it's fglrx driver to disinclude older hardware. And also, part of the issue also has to do with Xorg and the kernel and this new driver. Quite honestly, I still don't have it all straight (though I'm sure you all do).
This change means I have crap for hardware acceleration anymore. In ubuntu 8.10 I had full acceleration, the system ran great and I could have compiz effects run great if I wanted them. Ever since then, nope.
Ultimately my real question is this:
Can someone please guide me to puppies/puplets/configs of them that I can use to have full hardware acceleration back? (And compiz would be great too
Or if it's not feasible to have full closed source driver acceleration... can you please help me choose the right puppy / configuration to maximize my comp?Thank you so much!
