Best Way To Set Up Gimp

Hi, I'm fairly new to Linux/Puppy.
I'd like to know the best way to set up Gimp.
I can install from within LP 5.2 versions 2.6.8 - 2.6.11squeeze as PETS.
I've seen a download for 2.7.3 as a PET or SFS.
Which is my best option?
I'd like to keep up with the latest version.
I understand that the PETS are one click and self installing.
But SFS files should go in /mnt/home and reboot?
Is this correct? Can I then delete the folder I downloaded?
How do I update to a newer version?
Sorry lots of ?'s but I am confused about PETS & SFS ... with PETS there seems no way to remove them once installed?
Thanks
Geoff
