Hey community,

I must admit I got settled into a rut with puppy 1.0.6 and never upgraded to 1.0.7 or 8. So today I upgraded to puppy 1.0.8r (which is quite nice by the way) and I get this warning on startup:

"The -o argument is no longer used. You can turn on override redirect from the options box instead."

Any ideas what this means, what caused it, or how to fix it?

Thanks for the help.

you are using a newer version of Rox to display the pinboard (desktop)

follow the instructions in the readme.txt file that came with the dotpup package ... edit /root/.xinitrc and remove the -o option from the line that runs rox

or just reinstall the Rox package

also, /usr/local/bin/rox might be removed by Puppy when it upgrades ... it should not be removed, the file should be registered with pupget, but if it is removed, you can re-install it simply by clicking the ROX-Filer icon in my-roxapps

and there can be problems if icon and/or wallpaper files are in a different locations or have been removed in the newer version of Puppy

I asked the same question last week!
It's a shame I ended up deleting my pup001 if that's all it is...

that's all it is ... just change

rox -o -p

to:

rox -p

the Rox installer does this automatically

newer versions of Rox have some incompatibilities with the older version
