Mpdpup on CF card: no sound on startup (Solved)

#1 Post by wlowes »

I have installed mpdpup on CF/installed in Alix/run startup scripts. (fantastically easy compared to Voyage-thanks)

It played the sample sound/found my NAS/updated mpd.db. All is good. client connects and plays wav file. only problem. no sound.

I am running WaveIO usb card into dac. Worked fine on Voyage. I know from prior experience that alsa comes up muted. Can't find alsamixer to unmute.

Tried changing mpd.conf to change
decoder { plugin "sndfile" enabled "no" } as I believe this is required for WaveIO.
nothing.
In asound.conf it looked like it had a plug for card 0. my Wave IO should be hw:1,0 so not sure if there is a problem here.

any ideas most welcome. It seems like it should be simple but this is eluding me.

What happens if you open a console (click the Console icon on your desktop) and enter alsamixer in it?

Thanks Flash
Turned out to be mute. I could not figure out how to get alsamixer to run. Turns out command
"amixer -c 1"
got it to go. with that, I could toggle mute on each channel and its now perfect, thanks
