Dawnsboy, Success! It worked. I would like to thank you very much for persevering in compiling this module. Between the two sources, the tools are now available to compile and use this module for kernels up to 2.6.38.

Once again, the Puppy Community (in particular, dawnsboy, pesamu, jamesbond and jemimah) have come through in helping a user!

Thanks again,

myke

I have built a module for the ENE Card Reader found on

I did not have to reboot after installing this package.
I simply inserted an SD card into the reader and it was detected...

Thank you, worked immediately after install.

Just installed keucr_2.6.33.2-lupu525.pet on an MSI U135 netbook running LuPu-525 booted from a USB flash card, actually an SD card in a USB reader.
Works perfectly, thanks a lot Dawnsboy!

Will also install it on a triple-boot Aspire One D255 (SPup-100, LuPu-525, Win7) on which the SPup-100 version is already installed & working.

Good work to get the JMicron cardreader working! Although only SD cards are mounted, unfortunately not xD nor Sony Memory Stick Sad
I found a possible solution and driver source to fix it for xD/MS cards. I'm a n00b in buiding new PETs. Anybody here who can build it for Lupu 525?

thanks a lot tempestuous!
Pmount can't mount a MS. In my case it shows up as 'mspblk0p1' I added a line to /etc/fstab to have a quick workaround:
Code:
/dev/mspblk0p1 /mnt/mspblk0p1 vfat rw,exec 0 0

and make a desktop shortcut to /mnt/mspblk0p1

Just for the record, Three Headed Dog is based on a later kernel, and it works just fine with the card reader in the Acer Aspire One. But I'm glad to find the pet for Lupu 5.25.

Fatdog64 already has the keucr module, but it may not support your particular device. Type
Code:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

and see if you can find the Vendor/Product ID codes for your card reader.

I need to test this too Smile
I have a D255 that I never use due to the Fan too noisy.
but sooner or later the hdd in my D250 will give up and then
I will have to use the extra reserve having another almost identical.

so I need to learn these pets that help it work or to install those
puppy that do work with the SD cards. So thanks for providing them.

FWIW - I did a fresh install of lupu 528 (on Acer One) and keucr_2.6.33.2-lupu525.pet works with it.

PostPosted: Sat 03 Dec 2011, 12:42    Post subject: Status of ENE Card Reader in kernel
Subject description: Situation w.r.t. kernels

After some googling and my own experiences, I found the following:

Kernel------->puppy------>module-->version------->status-->notes
2.6.33.2----->lupu 5.25->keucr.ko-->old source--->works-->pet
2.6.34.1----->spup-100->keucr.ko-->new version->works-->pet
2.6.35.7----->lupu 5.28->keucr.ko-->new version->works-->pet
2.6.35.7----->fatdog64-511->"------->new version->works-->gz file
2.6.38.8----->none------->keucr.ko-->" "-------->??----->rpm
2.6.39------->none------->ums-eneub6250.ko------>broken->no fix
3.0.1-------->same as 2.6.39
3.0.3--------> " " "

What happened is that keucr.ko was removed from the kernel as of version 2.6.39 and replaced with ums-eneub6250.ko, which does not work.

I suspect that dependencies or the structure also changed so that recompiling keucr.ko for later kernels would not work.

The bottom line is that the only way to use the card reader with the new puppies is to replace the kernel with a kernel in an iso that works.
