I have been using LibreOffice 3.50 in Exprimo 5x15 Frugal on a Netbook.

Is this PET the best way to update it to 3.64, please?

I use it daily so don't want guess wrong, use the wrong process, and break things!

Thanks!

Edoc

Just unload the 3.5 version before starting a build, should work ok. If it happens to fail you can reload the 3.5 version.

0.20 failed here, three tries.

I will try 0.21 a little later ...

Thanks!

EDIT:

BTW: Isn't GET supposed to restart when interrupted?

The GET from the PET was interrupted and just stalled.

I started a new GET and rather than picking up where it stalled it started new

No apparent joy with 0.21 in Exprimo 5x15 either.

I will try a reboot and see if it just isn't showing up.

EDIT: On reboot there was no evidence in Exprimo 5x15 of the 0.21 GET other than a couple of desktop icons out of place.

edoc, there is no guarantee things will work if the download breaks and you close the shell. I use "-t 0 -c" options which means unlimited tries and continue if the download breaks.

You might be better off getting a prebuilt version, here's a link to 3.6.3 (nluug) , not the latest but still recent.

In the 0.21 case the download appeared to run smoothly, no interruptions, it simply did not build anything and did not produce any error messages.

Are you aware of anyone successfully testing this in Exprimo?

I appreciate the effort and would like to help spot why it is not working here.

edoc,

Try version 0.17 (pemasu had some input on that one.) Be aware that the .desktop files might not work correctly as they added Unity stuff which messes them up in 3.6x series. If it does work then I have introduced a bug.

Also, running get_libreoffice from commandline might give us some useful info for debugging.

Hi I tried version 0.21 on Slacko 5.3.1 (frugal install to HD)

I got "No space left on device" error from command line.

However, personal pupsave has 554M left of 1GB

The only extra I ordered was the Danish language pack.

-Mounted File Systems-
rootfs / 45.08 % (553.5 MiB of 1007.9 MiB)
/dev/sda1 /initrd/mnt/dev_save 51.28 % (8.9 GiB of 18.3 GiB)
/dev/loop1 /initrd/pup_rw 45.08 % (553.5 MiB of 1007.9 MiB)
/dev/loop0 /initrd/pup_ro2 100.00 % (0.0 B of 121.6 MiB)
/dev/loop4 /initrd/pup_ro4 100.00 % (0.0 B of 32.5 MiB)
/dev/loop5 /initrd/pup_ro5 100.00 % (0.0 B of 27.5 MiB)
unionfs / 45.08 % (553.5 MiB of 1007.9 MiB)
shmfs /dev/shm 0.00 % (501.3 MiB of 501.3 MiB)
/dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2 96.02 % (748.5 MiB of 18.3 GiB)

-Computer-
Processor : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+
Memory : 2074MB (222MB used)

Any help appreciated ; -)

Hi and thanks for this much needed simplicity to get LibreOffice working with new Java update. I used 0.21 pet to get LibreOffice 3.6.5.2 on Slacko Puppy 5.3.3 frugal.

However, (1) document types are not associated with the LibreOffice programs in Rox. These would include any that LibreOffice can open, such as MS Office 2007/2010 xlsx spreadsheet files and so on.

Also, (2) if I enter scalc (for instance) the command can't be found; same for swriter, sdraw, simpress, sbase, smath or soffice.

already knew that, it's a bloody shambles! The freakin' webmaster of that site or whomever decides the packagenames of these packages needs a size 11 where it isn't designed to fit..

Don't worry.. I'm not the only one none too happy, slackbuilds are completely broken too, as would be any distros packaging scripts. It's a terrible joke.

...and.. when I checked beta2 a few weeks back (built ok, but had some issues with desktop entries, nothing too exacerbating) it complained about needing gconf!!! I hate that library!

Ah yes...the shoe insertion....You'll be happy to know that Acme Products stocks those in various sizes and colors.

Just to add to your day :?, I have to revert back to version 19 to get rid of the low memory/no usb warning...don't know why....and to make things better, even that does not seem to work in the beta Slacko.

I have also decided to paint all the inside walls red...that way the blood from hitting my head against the wall will not be so obvious.

Making progress . can now build a sane lo-4.0 sfs but need to fix .desktop files. Then I'll look at the RAM code to see where that breaks down.. maybe a new version later today.

I have also moved the "default" file code (eg: "defaultwordprocessor, defaultspreadsheet" etc) from the pinstall.sh (now not needed) which created files in /usr/local/bin, now the files exist in the sfs at /usr/bin. There are big advantages to this in that the pinstall.sh is gone now and when you unload the sfs you get your original defaults back, tested working fine.

LATER;

v 0.22 is out

see main post

I didn't check RAM based install but there was a bug, should be fixed. You would notice it if you had no swap.

Hmmm... I just tested on my laptop with 1G RAM, 1G swap USB install and it builds ok. It should do a check for over 2GB RAM and no swap and run, I simulated that (as I have swap on all machines) and the code stands up.

Try 0.23 I made minor adjustments, should work , if not, please post the output from commandline, it may be elsewhere that the code breaks.

You should see similar to this:

Code: Select all

Is it ok to build in RAM? yes
