Parcellite 1.0.0

I'm surprised no one else has packaged this...
It has some new features - find as you type, right-click to remove an entry from the history list.
The edit clipboard function isn't working properly for me - I'm not sure if this is new, because I use glipper-lite in preference to parcellite.

The executable is upxed

I've also noticed there is a fork of parcellite, (gtk)Clipit. It doesn't compile against my old GTK version. And there is a fork of Clipit, but I've forgotten the name...

There is also a clipboard manager written in Vala - "diodon", but I haven't bothered installing a new enough version of Vala to build it :)

Compiled on?
4.1.1, although not a particularly stock installation ;)
Do you want the newer version packaged? Or has someone else done it?

I compiled latest one. Should work in lucid and dpup puppies. I dont know how it works on other puppy platforms.
Svg icon is removed. And the tray icon is different than in puppies previously, I didnt change the compile default.
Just noticed that disciple has also removed svg in one of his pets. I just did the same because of the size of svg icon.

Hi guys,

When I Restart x server (or reboot) this new version disappears from my tray whereas the old version didn't.

Can anyone please comment on the above and also be so kind as to give one example of how to make good use of the Actions menu.

With the "search as you type" facility and the right click to delete an individual item together with the ability to edit the clipboard and other features this is a really useful tray tool for many users.

I am thinking about trying Glipper (concurrently) as entirely temporary storage with Parcellite (with its flexibility) as mainly long term searchable storage.

My regards

PS if there are any changes between this rc1 version and the final version hopefully someone will add to this thread.

I noticed that my full path for icons wasnt succesful. Seems to work without full path. I reuploaded the latest parcellite pet.
I have dragged the /usr/bin/parcellite as symlink to the /root/Startup. I dont know if it is needed but I have persistent parcellite on my tray. I didnt include that dragged symlink in the pet.

/etc/xdg/autostart/parcellite-startup.desktop should autostart it in the tray, but I am not so sure. I have used /root/Startup for autostarting apps.

/etc/xdg/autostart/parcellite-startup.desktop should autostart it in the tray
I don't think so in Puppy. Unless it has been implemented recently. But I could be wrong.
When I Restart x server (or reboot) this new version disappears from my tray whereas the old version didn't.
How/where are you starting parcellite? If you are starting it the same way as before then it should be the same.

Hi disciple et al,

If I uninstall Parcellite 0.9.2 first and then install the update:
I can edit the clipboad, but the tray icon is not persistent.

If i install the update on top of 0.9.2
The tray icon is persistent but I cannot edit the clipboard.

My regards

PS I am very far from sure, but I suspect this update may, only may, have affected how my firewall is displayed (though, in any event, it is of no concern as my firewall still works).

here I fixed the sources :) and also a pet that auto starts, If you don't want it to auto-start just delete the link in /root/startup
ttuuxxx

Hi again,

I think few, if any. Puppy experts would not agree that ttuuxxx is lightning quick and hugely competent.

However, clipit has so many fewer functions than the latest Parcellite update and is so outdated that it seems, to me, to be unworthy of mention here.

My regards

PS I am not a Puppy expert.

Nah,

Code: Select all

./clipit: symbol lookup error: ./clipit: undefined symbol: gtk_clipboard_wait_for_uris
Unless the pet wasn't built from your altered sources...

parcellite and clipit persistence

Dear puppians,

I also had problems with persistence in the case of parcellite and clipit in lucid (MacPup 520). I think I found a way out. I now link to a script (/root/my-applications/bin/loadtray) to /root/Startup. Loadtray contains all my little tray applets and automount commands, with sleep 1 or sleep 2 between some of them. As regards the clipboard managers, I run the following line:

Code: Select all

nohup clipit &
That seems to do the trick for persistence, although it would be nice to know why this occurs. But that's another problem for another day...:)

Cheers,
vovchik

Hi vovchik,

Thank you for your tip. I tried it with Wary 5.1.2 with a later rc version of Parcellite but that, as you may have expected, did not work.

In Lucid 5.1.0 I left the old version of Parcellite (0.9 I think) and then installed the latest rc pet and that made it persistent on rebooting.

My regards

ClipIt works on Slacko 5.3.1. Nice one 8)

Does any body know a way to make parcellite or ClipIt dump its contents to a text file?
