I have moved on to Opera 12.00 beta which is stable and has useful new features. I expect that the final version of Opera 12.00 will be released fairly soon so I do not plan to make an SFS of Opera 11.64.

I have updated the SFS package to Opera 12.00 Release Candidate (build 1450).

You may prefer to wait for the final version which should be released soon.

Flashplayer not working

#94 Post by MagicZaurus »

Using the latest Opera 12. Seems that Flashplayer is not working. On YouTube just a black box, where usually the video is displayed, Under Preferences it can be seen that the Flashplayer is recognized in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so.

Using Wary 5.3. As this is the first time trying Opera, I don't know if this always has been a problem or only with the new version 12.

In SeaMonkey the Flashplayer works without problems.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

MagicZaurus: Flash works OK for me running Opera 12.00 on Wary 5.3.

Which version of Flashplayer are you using? Try my 2 different pets for newer or older hardware:

For what it's worth, no flash problems here using your Opera 12 sfs in Lucid,Slacko and Exprimo. Using the older Flash 10.

EDIT:
Just booted into Wary 5.3 .....no flash problems with the Opera 12 sfs.

Magic- adjust your *global storage* settings before resorting to an earlier player..

Still no Flash

#98 Post by MagicZaurus »

Sorry for the late reply. Was sick and busy the last few days.

Flash still not working for me with Opera. I deleted my save file to be sure that this is not the source of the problem. Then started with a standard Wary 5.3. Only selected the Opera-SFS for loading during boot and tried the latest Flash 11 series and Flash 10 series. Both with the same result. Only a black box in YouTube.

Using SeaMonkey everything is fine.

I started Opera from the command line with the option -debugplugins, but there is no error message shown at all.

I'm running X.Org 1.3 with driver intel.

MagicZaurus:

Do your Opera cookie settings allow cookies from youtube.com?

One of the cookies set by youtube.com shows the Flash version used. In my case:

The entry shows the following.

PREF: f1=40000000&fv=10.3.183

I'm currently having the Flash version 10 installed, as I thought that might help.

Storage Settings

#102 Post by MagicZaurus »

What do you mean by *global storrage* settings?

I didn't change any settings in Opera - Preferences and my save file has more than 200MB free space.

I think Semme is referring to Opera Tools>Preferences>Advanced>Storage.

There are also Flashplayer preferences. The Opera SFS creates a menu item for that.

If I go to the mentioned link by Semme in Opera I cannot see the settings box. I would interpret this so that the Flashplayer is not properly starting.

If I open the link in SeaMonkey I get exactly the settings shown by Semme.

In the Opera Forum there are some random people reporting the same issue. Some of them have the issue only sometimes or with certain videos.

I will just use SeaMonkey for the time being.

Racy works fine

#109 Post by MagicZaurus »

I switched to using Racy 5.3 instead of Wary 5.3 and now Opera works fine with the Flashplayer. So I would guess that it might be something to do with the graphics driver, as Racy uses a newer X.Org.

I also noticed that in Wary 5.3 I only get a small green square in the task bar beside the speaker icon. In Racy 5.3 I get a nice red O for Opera. This also indicates some rendering issues of Opera under Wary 5.3.
