Subject description: Print server, NAS server and downloader

Hi All

Just wondered if anyone has any experience of these:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/250413

I am just interested in it for the print server and NAS, not bothered about unattended torrents.

There seem to be lots of instructions for windows users but as usual b*gg3r all for setting up under linux.

For a tenner is seems a bargain, I am just not sure how easy it will be to connect from all the puppy machines in the house. Very Happy

Any advice, as always, will be welcome.

All the best

Gary

got one of these through the post today; its a very simple web interface for usb drivess and printer sharing.

to connect to a usb device simply use the unc path \\ip of the box\sharename - obviously get the details of the ip and sharename from the nsd100's web interface.

you'll need linux drivers for your printer the same as if it were connected via a cable.

this is a VERY simple box!

Thanks alextee!

That is great news that you found the setup to be easy.

Do you have an ip address for the web interface or was it easy to find in the instructions?

I think I will go ahead and order one of these.

Thanks

Gary

I have made a new flash image for this EMPREX NSD-100. It gives you root telnet access at boot and it runs a boot script from the attached harddisc.

This will allow you to run any software from the harddisc. There is also a debian bolt on system you can put on the harddisc and run any software from this at boot to.

The previous hack entailed having to access the samba share on each boot to run things , this one will start what you want automatically.

see

enjoy my little hack Smile
