remaster with icons

#1 Post by fenex2004 »

I've been working on remastering my changes to my install (see thread http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=65067) - first from HDD, which seems nearly impossible (ie way too difficult) - so I went to a frugal install.

I've been able to remaster keeping my settings except for my icons. When I boot on another computer, the initial default icons appear. I'm sure it's a simple matter of editing a line in a file somewhere; problem is I don't know which file or which line. Can someone please advise me?
Thanks!

This is the file: /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin (open it as text)
The remaster script tells you if you want to keep your personal data, go to edit the temp directory.
Your root folder keeps big part (almost all) of your configurations -including the different apps config files, history and so on-, and its not included in the remastered ISO.
But you can manually copy the files that you want to keep, before create the ISO.
You could also edit your ISO if you already got it...

Regards.

You might also want to look in /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer/

There will be a file called "globicons"... If you right clicked on anything and changed its default icon, then the changes will be stored in this file.

Good luck!! If it still doesnt work, then next time, be sure to make the changes you want to the "root" folder in /tmp, then double check - cos whatever goes in there, goes in your new puppy.

:D W0oho0 :!: Sucess! Thanks a lot guys, that worked great! Just a tid-bit here for ya; found that if I edit the 'desktop-icon-theme' file after the remaster creates the /initrd/mnt/Puppylivebuild/etc (file is in the directory) and change it to the theme I want it works as well. That may be the simplest method, will try it by itself next burn.

This may not be the correct place, but while it's going good, I have a question about the isolinux.cfg file... The remaster stops and allows you to edit this simple code - my question is what can I change and how does it effect the rest of the burn? Will there be other files that need to be changed before I edit the cfg? I have a feeling that simply changing somehting ( like if I were to change line 10 from 'Label puppy' to 'Label mycustompup' it would totally fubar the burn and I would have to start over. Is that assumption correct?

Thanks for the help in advance!
