So far so good, fresh frugal install on the lappie.
Gimp, java, wine and devx living happily together in sfs-land.
Aqualung needed libmpcdec3_1.2.2-2.1ubuntu1_i386.deb.
glxgears 280, as good as I can expect, even after installing Xorg_High-1.1-Lucid.pet and xf86-video-trident-1.3.3-i486.pet.
As the kids say, mad respect and big ups!
Edit: No default chat client I could find- installed Pidgin 2.7.10 from QuickPet and it became default.chat.

Yes. It has been this way for a while at least. Does anyone know how to change it? |
This is really a safety feature just to make sure your overwriting what you want overwritten. |
the normal copy has that option. the quiet button is surely for bypassing this, if i want to merge two large directorys,.. and they share 500 files the same. Without the quiet option, i would have to click 500 times!!!!!!! That's not very safe for my mouse, or my finger.
I had quick test in puppy 4.3.1 and lighthouse and it's not working there either. It works for deleting but not overwriting ....I must have dreamed that it used to work
aah well

Here is a patch for an older version of Rox Filer that is suppose to make it auto overwrite if file is newer.
May be able to look at what was done and get idea on how to change
Rox Filer Options.xml
http://www.kerofin.demon.co.uk/rox/patch/newer-1.2.0.patch
Options.xml
is in /usr/local/apps/rox-filer

You can use this version of jwm config and your virtual desktops will be fixed
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/quirky/pet_packages-quirky/jwmconfig2-20101229-bk1.pet
I'm not sure why gnome-mplayer still refuses to play nice with jwm. Joe has integrated Patriot's fullscreen patch into the main code. I got it going ok in spup. Also stellarium-0.10.6 is fine in spup, haven't checked in luci-251 yet.
The openssl upgrade also affects wget. | Code: | wget: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by wget)

Saving to: `/tmp/Firefox-4.0b8-Lucid.pet' | although it still works.

thanks bigpup, but i believe the newer option already works, i've read a bit more about it and now realise that this is a rox issue as opposed to a puppy issue. It would be good though if you could figure it out.
thanks

That's great (but I haven't tested yet). The latest wine pet (1.3.13) in PPM has cabextract installed plus a better user interface for winetricks.

Using JWM desktop
setup
Pupcontrol->set tab->window manager setting->desktops
Changing the number of virtual desktops does not work. Change has no effect on number of virtual desktops. Stays at 4.

What version of Openbox is used in Luci251?
I think it is 3.4.7.2
If so, there are several upgrades that have fixed a lot of bugs.
Info at Openbox web site:

Hi,
The Desktop changer works for JWM in 5.2 and earlier; but I think the starting default number used to be two - in case that may make a difference?
My regards
The solution from radky appears two posts below.

Yes. It will work if you install 01micko's pet from above, which will be installed in next version.. |
In line 6 of jwmrc-personal (Luci-251)
replace
| Code: | | <Desktops count="2"/> |
with
| Code: | | <Desktops width="2" height="1"/> |
then go to /usr/local/jwmconfig2/ in Spup 056 (or in 01micko's pet above) and copy to Lucid the following three files, which contain 01micko's modifications that allow virtual desktops and taskbar to work properly in JWM-500:
| Code: | 1 - taskbar
2 - virtualDesknew
3 - virtualDeskwrapper |
