CUPS + OPERA

#1906 Post by Volhout »

I have a strange behaviour in my puppy 525 setup.

I have installed the printer (Epson RX420) as a shared printer (so I can access it from my netbook using puppeee), and when I print from Abiword or from Libreoffice all is fine. But when I print from Opera 11.00 (installed from pet) every print job is double. They show up as 2 identical jobs in CUPS.

Any idea ? Did look through the Opera setups, but couldn't find any setting that helps. I print via the Opera pulldown menu (did not test ctrl-P yet).

Quick search in Google and this seems to be bug in Opera.
There is a newer version in Additional Software->internet.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Sorry Bigpup,

I have searched in the (I did the update) PPM (no opera), I have searched ibiblio (could find only opera 10.10 and 10.11). And in Quickpet there was only 10.63 and my current one 11.00. 11.00 is the most recent one I found. I must be blind...where should I look for additional software ???

Testing: The Official Release of Lucid 5.25

#1915 Post by Moose On The Loose »

playdayz wrote:This is the Official Release of Lucid Puppy 5.2.5.
The following things have popped up so far:

The wine-1.3.13-lucid52 that is with it appears to be missing 2 libraries.
The wine does work, however. I tested it with LTSpice.exe a known well written windows program. I also tried to install Google SketchUp. The install worked but SketchUp couldn't init the OpenGL, even after I did the trick of manually editing the keys with regedit.

There is no libpng puppy 4.31 had a libpng. As a result one of the pets I made for myself doesn't work.

Strange: my attempts to set Opera as Default Browser kept ending in misery ..... so I put it back to Firefox. Further, both browsers do fine.

Another fairly easy way...if you occasionally update(or redo the update I guess) the PPM (from Quickpet),Opera 11.50 shows up right in Quickpet. :)

Opera

#1920 Post by Volhout »

Just a heads-up

I uninstalled opera 11.00 and installed opera 11.50. But the double printing issue is still there, Either it is not fixed in 11.50, or 11.00 left something behind that causes this double printing.

Once 526 RC1 is available (I tried to keep up with PlayDayz release schedule for the 261...266 but by the time I burned an iso to play, it was already in the next release, and the changes where many, so I gave up) , I will install 526RC1, and do a blank install of opera 11.50. See if that fixes the problem.

I've made a new version of Right click pet package.
I checked it on Lucid puppy 525
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=67013

_It adds lots of extra features

don570, What I would like to see in right clicks is the ability to archive.

For example:

When browsing in ROX it would be good to highlight a few files then right click to zip etc. You type in the zip name and you're done. The location of the zip file could be predetermined or created in the default directory.

Currently when one drags files to the zip icon on the desktop it takes too many steps to make an archive. It really isn't very intuitive.

It's not too bad if only one file is being archived but if it's more than one they have to be selected individually.

Thanks

don570, this little scripts solves the problem.

#!/bin/sh
zip /tmp/ZipPack "$@"
rox /tmp

Place the script in /usr/local/bin then drag it onto the desktop.

Any file you drag and drop on the desktop zippack icon will create a zip file called ZipPack in /tmp

Works a treat, simple but effective.

Cheers
