I meant, 'Is your Help 101 available as an HTML file - without downloading/installing the dotpet?'
It could be downloaded as a dotpet, don't install it, Rename the dotpet from PH101-001.pet to PH101-01.pet.tar.gz click on the renamed file and extract PH101-001.ncd.

Now rename PH101-001.ncd to PH101-001.html.

You should be able to view it in a browser now.

I can probably put an HTML and PDF version on my web site too. Both won't look or be as functional though.

These files won't be interactive with your system so many of the links won't work.

Thanks for the updated Chromium .pet.
I quite like it for speed, however and this is most probably not Puppy related(and also occurred in the previous version of Chromium) but I thought I'd ask to see if I was missing anything.
I cant seem to get the Chromium browser to empty all data when the browser is closed.
I'm sure it's all setup correctly from, Preferences>Under the Bonnet>Content Setting>'Clear cookies and other site and plug-in data when I close my browser' ticked.
Any ideas appreciated?

The way I read it is that setting refers only to cookies, rather than to history or cache. I don't know if I am right. Is there another setting for history?

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

There is another setting to clear history under 'Privacy 'Clear Browsing data' tab' but it still has to be emptied manually each time.

Media players and disappearing lupusave.

I looked in /root/.config and found that Banshee, deadbeef, Clementine and some others which I had installed, used, and uninstalled had left big caches or something--I mean 64MB, 15MB, and so forth.

So if you have experimented with media players, and can't figure out where all that save file went, maybe take a look.

set lettering color for clock?

#1870 Post by don922 »

I know that it must be easily done, but I can't figure out how to change the color of the clock display from white. I have changed the desktop background and I cannot read the white clock display.

How do you change the lettering color for the clock display?

Apparently, there are several desktop(?) configuration managers and I don't know how to choose them or even which one I am using.

I downloaded and installed Phelp Puppy Help and I can't even figure out how to increase the text size to something readable!

for Phelp, press F7 then click on the display tab and change the Tree or Text font.

@don922
See THIS and THIS.

Lots more Puppy goodies on that thread.
Here's the present last page of the thread.
You could quickly read backwards through the thread looking for items of use to you.

All I want to do is change the color of the time display

#1873 Post by don922 »

Thanks smokey01 I will try to get stuck into Phelps now that I have the lettering big enough for me to read.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
See attached left corner of my desktop. As can be seen from the trash the desktop is readable, except for the time. Why doesn't anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for your help. Nothing you suggested helped. I am not about read a thread on LQ just in case I find something that will be useful.

To change clock font:
Left mouse click on clock
Go to Fbp Font tab
Fill out all the options
The last one will give you color options.
Select set.

Added Note:
By the image you posted, your firewall is not setup and running.

Hi, I've been away from puppy for some time, just returned and have it set up with Icewm just as I like it, except I do like a clear task bar and there are 3 items I just can't get shot of. I'm guessing they're in the tray, Volume control, Personal storage space and Active interfaces icon. I'd really like to remove them but I'm damned if I can find out how.

Some advice would be appreciated.

I can't understand why you would want to but have you tried right mouse clicking on each of the icons?

Don't think its blinky, at least not the blinky I remember. No, this is a symbol of the earth with a monitor in front of it. Does nothing except when you hover the mouse over it then it tells you the active interface and traffic report, and if you click on it you get IP info.
