Request for icon theme

#136 Post by Volhout »

Maybe these are nice as an inclusion for 5.2.2

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... &start=210

PuppyMartin's i-Pad theme icons.

Also Jemimah's Faenza icons may be a nice inclusion. I didn't try 5.2.2 yet, so if these are already included, please ignore the post.

P.S. moderators: it is soooo childish to translate "i-Pad" to "piece of crap" on a forum. Cut this.

xz compression is broken. As such txz and tar.xz can't be opened.

I think it was technosaurus who had a patch and I think abushcrafter had one too. I'll look further into it as time permits

Here's the latest Geany, If you click help, it will open a webpage with links to the online documents, but if you install the doc pet from below, it will install the documents locally and will open when the help button is clicked, I also moved the searchbar, to a better location, really its one of the most used features for geany, and should be assessable when fullscreen isn't in use.

This is designed to change the Google ranking of spammers, in other words, spam is not completely deleted from the forum. it is moved to another area, where it can be ranked in another way. So it is not so childish. Google recently announced a new algorithm to penalise 'spam farms'. Companies trying to up their ranking where there is a clear indication of no legitimate interest, will find their spamming tactics backfiring.

and now back to the testing . . . :)
When I rebooted for the first time (from JWM)
I was rebooted back to openbox instead
Xchat in the ppm is not set up for the Puppy forum - boo
- we did have an xchat that was but maybe the latest is not set up?
Could not be bothered to add settings so uninstalled and used pidgin instead. I installed the first pidgin in the list of options which I think might
be the latest (worked OK and chatted with Puppy users) but the list of alternatives is confusing . . .

Changed one icon set (as suggested in this thread) and a whole new list also appeared on the icon changer wizard. None of the others were populated.

Thanks for suggesting Claws as email client. Smaller and best wins
not Lobsterian loyalties . . .

I will remind testers. This is already a very stable and usable
version of Puppy.
We have seven days of bug hunting . . .
Maybe I should not quote Mr Burns from the Simpsons
(last time I did it was taken as a serious death threat by a humourless
journalist) So I will explain . . . it means 'go get em boy' and refers to bugs
and should not be taken as attacking defenceless luncheon meat purveyors

"Release the hounds!"

Just tested on a 9 year box at a computer store in
outer Sydney.

I can't tell you the specs but the tech seemed interested enough.

But the desktop pic default....ah! well.

Chris.

Upgrade of full install of Luci 251 to Luci 252.
What got changed from what I had in Luci 251:
desktop icons to default of Luci 252.
video driver features. Still have Nvidia driver, but lost OpenGL.

Got this when I ran glxgears:

# glxgears
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

Gimp, java, wine and devx living happily together in sfs-land.

Aqualung needed libmpcdec3_1.2.2-2.1ubuntu1_i386.deb.

glxgears 280, as good as I can expect, even after installing Xorg_High-1.1-Lucid.pet and xf86-video-trident-1.3.3-i486.pet.

As the kids say, mad respect and big ups!

Edit: No default chat client I could find- installed Pidgin 2.7.10 from QuickPet and it became default.chat.
Hi Tubeguy,

nice Screenshot. Is that the original one right after installation or did you modify your desktop ?

Regards from berlin

(btw..... i just noticed your puppy stuff site at zazzle....i would like to buy some stuff..how much will be the shipment costs to Germany ??)
Hi Krille,

I spent some time setting it up before the screenshot. 8)

The shipping will be displayed during the order process, not sure what Zazzle charges. (All profit goes to Barry K to support Puppy, I've sent about $50 so far.)

notice in /usr/lib/gnumeric there is directory for 1.10.12 and 1.10.13 and contents appear to be same

/usr/share/gnumeric there is directory for 1.10.12 and 1.10.13 and contents appear to be same

Thanks for pointing out the missing link, I just reused the .desktop file from luci saves a bit of time, and looks like they have used numbers also. I fixed the missing "gnumeric" link :) and updated the pet package

the two directories your seeing 1.10.12 and 1.10.13, well Luci came with 1.10.12 and the new pet came with 1.10.13, so if you want to tidy up your file system, feel free to delete the 1.10.12 files/folders since they are replaced with the newer ones I posted, Its just basically leftovers from the original files. My pets replace everything which is needed

Here's the latest Openssl 0.9.8r which will work with everything just fine, The guys at Openssl are still supporting the 0.9.8 series so it doesn't mess up things like the browsers, mediaplayers, cups etc.
This was updated the same day that the latest 1 series was updated feb8/2011 http://www.openssl.org/source/
the current one in luci 2.5.2 was compiled back 2009 and was released on march 25/2009, so probably better to update it :)

deleted gnumeric folders in /usr/lib and /usr/share
downloaded and installed the revised pet

symlink works

your pet placed gnumeric-1.10.12 folder in /usr/lib and /usr/share
along with folders for gnumeric-1.10.13 in /usr/lib and /usr/share

why include 1.10.12 in both if not needed. I am just trying to understand the application

thanks

xz compression is broken. As such txz and tar.xz can't be opened.
01micko, I was able to create a tar.xz in 520 and unpack it in 252. It took 2 steps--it unpacked the xz to tar and then unpacked the tar.

The opening screen for pupzip does not show a wrapper for txz (or for tar.xz for that matter). Is that the problem? Do you have access to sample of txz?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

yarddog, Just making sure I understand. The pet of gnumeric 1.10.13 had your fix in it and the program worked well?

The 1.10.12 folders were already there--default in 252.

Yes and No. 1.0.0 is dumped. But read ttuuxxx's message above 0.9.8r was just released and is supported (for cases like ours where a lot of programs expect it).
