Finally success.
Dispense with unnecessary pictures - we believe you!
But, tell what you did right and wrong together with any known idiosyncrasies of your box, eg Intel graphics.

Playdayz, do we have an upgrade path for a full installation yet?

The current (old) way is long and laborius!

Thanks playdayz for the advices for the audio settings.

1. Updated Lupu-520 to Lupu-525.
Working flawlessly so far as I can tell. 8)

2. I'm using this method to make the Lucid-Puppy [Lupu-525] treat lupusave on the HDD as if it's a lupusave on a Flash Drive....
So I'm asked at shut-down whether I want "to save or not to save".
It's working just fine. :D

I'm impressed!

5.25 seems so stable and fast, cannot find anything to critisize.. :)

Have not had the time/ opportunity to follow development, but at first sight 5.25 is absolutely distrowatch top 5 quality!

I changed the window manager from my preferred openbox to the new JWM, thinking I should give that a chance too, and I haven't switched back! Just lovely.

The default wallpapers are not that great. But who cares, they're so easy to change.

Puppy keeps gaining momentum. Thank you very much playdayz and the team!

Here's some of what I found with a quick search for "puppy 5.25". The world definitely starts noticing Puppy...

92. I'm kinda embarrassed that I do actually have that many floppies. Can't seem to bring myself to toss them yet, I still have 3 machines with floppy drives.

EDIT: What...just realized you did say 5 1/4 floppies. Actual floppy disks, not the ones I was thinking of, those new-fangled 3 1/2" plastic things.

If you used 5 1/4" floppies in 1976 it would take 1,164. (110K each)
If you used 5 1/4" floppies in 1982 it would take 107. (1.2 Meg each)

NForce 10/100 killed by 5.25 upgrade

#1209 Post by Flash858 »

I like the new feel (once openbox was removed) of 5.25, but my Ethernet controller (Nvidia NForce 10/100) which has been working with zero config out of the box on every other puppy/puplet since 2.something is no longer recognized. Additionally, neither of my wireless USB adapters would work, not even with Ndiswrapper, so there seems to be somewhat of a regression here. Where can I get the old forcedeath driver? Anyone know? Thanks !

Might something like that work to treat flash drive storage as if it is an optical drive?

@ playdayz and everyone

I did a full install, everything is working well

Although i noticed that Dillio gives a weird flash on the screen when typing in a text box sometimes and the scroll bar turns black and it is like a flash

But, nothing to worry about, maybe it is just that i am a perfectionist :P

EDIT:

Tried Lubuntu 11 beta yesterday, it boots faster than Lucid 5.25. I wonder why? Or maybe i am wrong

Playdaz,

>The results are that forum member live is a great troubleshooter!

Well, once again in Lupu 525 RC5(4/4/11) OpenShot 1.3 does not work and once again I think it is linked to the fact that in
document/document publish\ for Abiword I see the help entry menu in English, while the soft entry menu in French.

Can you check this.

Although you found it, I will just post it for others. Yes, it is around 600 MB but it is kinda fast, i noticed it booted a little faster than Lucid, or I wonder if i was simply dreaming

Firewall OFF is not saved on re-boot. Is this a bug or a feature? If it is a feature how do we get rid of it? ;)

If you did some type of upgrade over a previous version, you just discovered some of the possible problems with upgrading. Your results will very.
If not an actual upgrade process, give details how you installed Puppy 5.25

Bits and pieces of closed windows left behind ?

#1220 Post by Tui »

I have just upgraded to this version from v5.2.0
and also changed to a large Samsung LCD widescreen monitor.

I am not sure where this problem lies.

I have bits and pieces of previous opened windows staying behind, well
it looks like that, also I notice small length white lines flickering
up and down the left hand side of screen.

I will try to get a screenshot of that. Also I note that there something
going on with monthly cal letters missing and early part of month dates
not in sequence.

Can any one help me with one please.

Tui
