How to setup/install/configure ADSL2+ internet?

#1 Post by Shep »

A year ago I introduced a friend to Dpup484 for his laptop. Now, I have just signed him up for ADSL. The modem instructions all relate to Windows, etc., nothing for Linux. I have never set up ADSL so am not sure how to go about it.

I would appreciate it if someone could outline the steps and tools I need to follow to get Puppy up and running with this internet. He has connected the Billion 5210S RC router to the line and its ethernet cable to the laptop, and all lights are green for go. :P

Now, what do I do in Puppy? :? :?

If all lights are green that suggests that the modem has connected to the internet ok, In which case you just need it to give you an IP address via DHCP.

Have you tried just the standard network connection procedure with your version of Puppy (I''m new to puppy and know nothing of dpup484 unfortunately) and if so what happens?

I think I now know how to go about this. I will post more if it doesn't work out.
