hi puppy new,
Two things.......
1.is the bios set to boot from cd as the first boot device?
if yes then...
2. when you burnt the iso, what program did you use? Are you sure you used a burniso2disc or burn image to disc option?

So you probably cannot put one of these iso OS files on a USB stick and install it that way?

So you don't have ubuntu together with Ms Windows now then?
Do you have anythign on the HDD? I think using an usb or a CD and installing Ubuntu first is the best approach.
Then you can add many puppy in frugal install very easily and that way to get to know which puppy that suites you best.

Hi puppynew,
Welcome to puppy.
As stated previously, make sure that you have a bootable Ubuntu CD.
1. Ubuntu will take over the partition and reformat it unless you take special precautions. So do you have a separate partition that you can use for Ubuntu?
2. Ubuntu will install grub2 which will not recognize your puppy installation unless it is a full hd installation. You will need to prepare a special file using Ubuntu and grub2 protocol so that your frugal installation will boot properly. See here for success stories on how to set up Grub2.
A simply solution is to install Ubuntu first to set up your partitions and then install puppy linux 5.2. Puppy will exist fine as a frugal installation on the Ubuntu partition or if you prefer set it up on a separate partition. If it's a full hd installation, it needs a separate partition. You can add as many different frugal installations as you have space for, just put each one in it's own directory. If your installation is frugal, all you need to do is move the save file to a safe location.
After installing puppy, immediately install grub4dos. Grub4dos will recognize both the puppy frugal installations as well as all full hd installations so you won't need to edit the menu.lst. Allow grub4dos to use the mbr so that it will take over control of the booting process.

puppynew......
the burniso2d was the right thing to use, did you check the bios to see if it's set to boot from the cd as the first option?

You appear to have a bad Ubuntu download. Have you checked the mid5sums?
