Corrected Set of Murreza and Murrine gtk-2.0 Themes

#1 Post by musher0 »

Hi.

I like Murrina themes. And so did pemasu, who included a whole series of them for
his raring Pup. A lot of people like these themes.

Bug reports in error logs coming from in gtk-2.0 themes using the Murrina theme
engine is well documented, and the ubuntu people have issued a patch.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/584941

Generally speaking, this happens because the the people at Gnome change their
GTK theming standards from time to time. A lot of those beautiful Murrina themes
were probably published towards the end of a GTK standards cycle, and now they
are labeled buggy.

For Puppyists, the problem is that, because of these "bugs", the size of your
xerrs.log file can increase to +/- 500K without your noticing it when you're using
one of the Murrine/Murrina/Murrezza themes... E.g. the Murrina Relax themes, or
the Murrina-SandBlue theme created by an artist at DeviantArt.

Since I had a collection of these themes, I decided to run < replaceit > on them to
correct bugs such as :
/usr/share/themes/MurrinaRelax-v0.5b/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:48: Murrine configuration option "scrollbar_color" is no longer supported and will be ignored.

/usr/share/themes/MurrinaSandBlue/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:65: Murrine configuration option "lightborder_ratio" will be deprecated in future releases. Please use "lightborder_shade" instead.
I also changed "hilight_ratio" to "highlight_shade", as recommended.

With replaceit in a for..do loop, it took very little time to do the job.

Now my xerrs.log doesn't grow as big because of errors & bugs not my fault ! :)
That's really irritating, don't you think, having to put up with other people's oversights?

Caveats:
  • * I didn't change the "gradients" feature in those Murrina themes. I saw a bug flag
of it, but I wasn't sure if commenting it wouldn't change the shadings of the theme.

    * The attached zip file does NOT contain all the Murrine/Murrina/Murrezza out there.
    Only the following:
    MurrezaSilver/ MurrezaWarm/ MurrinaAquaIsh/
    MurrinaAzul/ Murrina-Black/ MurrinaBlue/
    MurrinaBlueSky/ MurrinaCandido/ MurrinaCandy/
    MurrinaCappuccino/ MurrinaChrome/ MurrinaCream/
    MurrinaDark/ MurrinaDeviantCompact/ MurrinaEalm/
    MurrinaFancyCandy/ MurrinaGilouche/ MurrinaLoveGray/
    MurrinaNeoGraphite/ MurrinaPF-YBlue/ MurrinaRelax-v0.5/
    MurrinaRelax-v0.5b/ MurrinaRelax-v0.5c/ MurrinaSandBlue/
    MurrinaVerdeOlivo/ Murrine-Gray/ Murrine-Light/

    * The MurrinaRelax-5b theme also has my edits (all lines single-spaced; that way,
the menu doesn't spread as high on the screen and is easier to read.)
Through the years I certainly have edited more than a couple more -- and you may
    not like them! :)
So do make a back-up of your themes before you unpack and use the
attached archive.

I hope this can be helpful. Enjoy! :)
