G'day Claude,
I think I have the iso around here somewheres I could stick online for you, if you have any problems. Had a quick check of hondasid's personal webpage for any info on this matter (http://hondasid1984.angelfire.com/) and found only one of his project Puplets still available for download - no Barebones501 there either unfortunately. Maybe DPUP5520 has a tinkered version he might let you know about? Post or PM me whenever,
Cheers

LOL you are right Puppyt I do in fact have a few custom versions of Barebones-501 as well as the original ISO unfortunately used up all my space on Mediafire so I have nowhere to upload any of my ISO files unless if someone has some server space for me.

:) Sorry to "drop you in it", as it were, DPUP5520 - I just found my untinkered copy of Barebones501 and can* post it if/when anyone is interested. Thankyou so much for your unprompted help.
*Warning - I'm in virgin territory with this sort of data sharing - checking out options now...

UPDATE: Huge thankyou to the kind offers for data hosting in this thread: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 415#373415

G'day Rocco - I've just PM'd you with the details I've set up with "mydrive", and if you are able to download it successfully please let me know if it works. I'm just arranging with SilverPuppy for a more permanent home for hard-to-find puplets that have dropped off the radar, for broader public access,
Cheers!

Thanks! Looks like the download was successful unfortunately, I won't be able to actually test drive the iso until tomorrow.

Wow! That was quick - I'm trying to test it myself but have been choked to 6KB/s having skittled my monthly bandwidth with 3G Wireless...3 hours to go...fingers crossed :)

Right now, I'm working with a fairly slow DSL connection, it took 5 or 6 minutes to download.

OK folks -
I feel confident to post this link to a pristine copy of hondasid's Barebones 5.01, and an MD5 checksum text file.
1) Go to http://www.mydrive.ch
2) Sign on with username "puppyt" and password "puppylinux"
3) The files are located in the 'hondasid' directory
HTH any who need it.

It works okay one of two laptops, but not the other. FWIW, I like that puppy, it loads up off the CD quite a bit quicker than the Lucid 5.2.5.

My older laptop is really starting to frustrate me, I just can't get Puppy 4.3.1 to do what I want it to, I know that a version 5 Puppy would, at least it does on my newer laptop but the old laptop just won't properly boot any of the several version 5's I've tried, VERY aggravating!

Yes and yes. It boots up to the command line okay (i.e. pfix=nox) but fails when I run xwin and that's been the case with every version 5 Puppy I've tried. From what I've been able to gather it seems there's something about the video hardware of some older machines that's incompatible with any of the version 5 Puppys.

what exactly is it that you cant get 431 to do that you think the 5 series can do anyway?

I'm trying to get a Keebox W150nu USB wifi adapter to work. You can read about my problems with that in THIS THREAD.

Quick summary, the older laptop boots up successful Puppy 4.3.1 with kernel 2.6.30.5 but the wifi adapter drivers recommended for that set up don't seem to work. I tried both Puppy 4.3.1 and 5.2.5 on my newer laptop but could only get the wifi adapter to work with 5.2.5

I have just added uploaded a copy of Barebones 5.01 to my online storage. Sorry it took so long. I am updating my website, so a link will be available there shortly.

if u dont mind, can u make a barebone lucid 5.2.8? I mean its newer and lucid 5.2.5 lite is a bit older in some sense, and its not as 'barebone' as what u have done.
If u cant, it doesnt matter :D

I have begun work on a bare 528, but it is slow coming. the way that i build it takes a while. i should have it done in about a week.
I thought i had it done a few days ago, but apparently i stripped so much out that it broke and i wasn't able to repair it. So i had to start over.
