Brainwave Notice Subject description: Account Throttled |
|
Hello, it seems there has been a error on the hosting thing which is my fault
it might go, it might stay I don't know
But I have been getting complaints from users that the connection is slow and nearly all-ways stops at mid-stream....
This does not corrupt the download IN ANYWAY WHAT - SO - EVER
So all you , I have this to say....
Use the "Resume" function and have some patience
all you do is restart the download and it should pickup where it left off..
if you can't do that then i can't help you or this situation.
I was thinking of upgrading to a dedicated server just for you guys so there would be no throttling... but after I checked the list of things I need to do this month and next,... I have financial obligations else where.
I am sorry ....
But all you people will have to deal with this "Inconvenience" if your currently affected or download some where else..
Just letting you guys know
Thanks,
Saturn

Here is a work around to the download interruptions:
open a Terminal or console and type Wget brainwavedesigncentral.net/user-directory/File

| Code: | | wget -c brainwavedesigncentral.net/user-directory/File |
-c, --continue resume getting a partially-downloaded file.

but i do admit i'm no expert at any command line stuff
Thanks for catching the error, I appreciate and I am grateful for such a action

Well, for dummies like me there"s always the excellent pwsget, available in menu >> internet. Just copy the link address and tell it where to download to and it will take care of any download, no matter how 'bad' the server or the connection.
It's just a frontend to wget, but how nice! I think Lobster created it It's one of the many hidden treasures that become apparent once you start looking at all those crazy linux abbrevations in the menu.
On the other hand, it's my impression modern browsers are getting better at downloading stuff. They don't mess up downloading as easily as they used to do, often just picking up where they stopped after a connection or server problem.
