Subject description: Icelandic keyboard and country settings not available

In puppy 4.3 I could choose both Icelandic Keyboard and country settings but in Lucid puppy 5.1 the keyboard was no longer available and in 5.2 neither is available. The keyboard setting is easy to fix with the setxkbmap command but I cannot fix the country settings.

Hi gsig1185,

When you choose menu >> setup >> setup puppy >> personalize settings,
you will find "more" at the bottom of the country settings list. Choose that, click 'OK' and a scroll-down list will open, where you'll be able to select is_IS.

Hope that is what you where looking for..
Velkomin!

Hi bignono,

Nathan wallpaper setter is working fine here in Lupu 5.2. Do you have any idea what causes the problem in your installation? Maybe something like (just a wild guess) a 1.5 MB wallpaper in your collection?

[Off-topic, Nathan seems to have disappeared again from the forum. The search function can't even remember him. It takes the most perfected google search (thanks Bruce B), to find Nathan.]

PostPosted: Sat 15 Jan 2011, 21:53    Post subject: My congratulations to Larry and Mick on Lucid 5.2

Congratulations playdayz and Mick, this is the first Lupu that "just works" on an Intel D865GSA mainboard. Well, at least, that is...after I disable the onboard RTL8139 NIC and add instead a Netgear 10/100 PCI NIC...and an FX5200 video card.

One quibble:

When I install Opera-11.00-Lucid, the notification tells me to look in "Desktop" to find the icon. It is rather, of course, under "Internet".

ok guys, If you need Gimp, I'll compile it tomorrow, please provide me the direct link to the DevX and then I'll be fine.

I'm using Gimp from quickpet and it seems to work ok, BUT I've just tried to work with 'filters' and there's nothing there! No filters!!

Is that a Bug, or a dodgy download?

ttuxxx, if you're putting something together, and I have no idea how you do what you do, then I'll be very interested to see it.

Here's the latest gimp, I also included in the package gegl, babl, and for some odd reason it needed slang, so the latest slang is also included. 6.7MB, first delete /root/.gimp-2.7 <-- hidden folder, if you had any previous gimps installed the user settings will be there.
This is the version with single window switch, just that you have to enbale single window each time, grrr I would like to see it default like photoshop, to view single window mode select
Window --> Single Window Mode
Oh yes I also include the extra batch photo plugin

Hi Bert,
The problem was not due to a big size wallpaper,
i with the help of technosaurus on the puppy chat page tried many ways to solve the problem and only installing the pet did the job.
My guess is that it is rellated to a menu problem i allready pointed out on this topic, page 5.

PostPosted: Sun 16 Jan 2011, 09:10    Post subject: boot a CD/DVD with Grub4dos

If you have a computer that will not boot from CD or DVD you can do it from the Grub4dos menu.

To boot a CD with Grub4dos add this entry to the menu.lst.

title Boot CD-ROM - (cd0)
cdrom --init
map --hook
chainloader (cd0)
rootnoverify (cd0)

Insert the CD after the boot menu comes up. Make sure to move off of the first menu choice so that does not get booted while you insert the CD.
Worked for me.

From info in the Grub4dos guide.
