Thanks BigPUP. I had to generate a save session on the LiveCD for this to work.
Thanks again.

For others using LiveCD and need to change the taskbar behavior back to how it tends to work on most Linux releases, this works.

I have full install Lucid 5.2 Puppy in my computer with grub loader. I am not able to load www.gmail.com or mail.yahoo.com. I have tried even after without firewall. However, not loading gmail etc !!!. Also I regret to inform you that most of the programe is not loading fast. whereas other versions quirky or warry, loading of program is lighting. Even in the previous version of Lucid, I have not find this problems. Kindly help me to solve the problems.

How did you do the full install?
What browser are you using to get to www.gmail.com or mail.yahoo.com?

I have installed the Lucid Puppy 5.2 as usual done in previous occasion. That is after loading Live CD. I have selected the Universal Installer and installed the Lucid in full partition. In may I have installed Warry and Quirky in the same way. I am using puppy for the past several years in this way. I don't have any problem like this. Even previous Lucid worked without problem. I have tested the www.gmail.com and mail.yahoo.com both in Firefox and chrome browser.

So you reach things in India like Zoho mail? www.yahoo.in
google.in

here in Sweden they force us to use google.se and it is not easy to get google.com so it could be such redirection things that get stuck on some advertise hang up? Test got get big news media in India and if that works then I trust it is what I refer to here. They lock us to ads from our own country when we use google or yahoo

pardon my confusiing English. Even if I write www.google.com it redirects to www.google.se which is our version of www.google.in

in for india se for Sweden de for Germany dk for Denmark. You see a pattern?

So in Denmark they have yahoo.dk and not yahoo,se or yahoo.in which should work for you.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Ideas to try.
Bad copy of Lucid 5.2. Not likely if runs OK as live CD.
Partition you installed to not clean. Old files from previous installs mixing with new install.
Installer just did not do good install for some reason? It can happen.

Here's a neat md5sum calculator, its based on zenity, which is a off branch of gtkdialog, I included zenity with the pet package and its still only 39kb, I had to edit the sources because it had one of those "Can't run as root" messages that stops the app, then I had to edit the dialog to use default browser, and I also added right click options for , iso,pet,deb,tar.gz,tar.bz2 so basically right click on any of the listed file types and select "Hash Checker" and it will start .
Once its finished giving the md5sum it will ask you if you want to check google to see if it matches, basically it searches for the file using google and looks for the md5sum.
kind of cool

Lucid 5.2 full install to hard drive.

Running program to check dependencies of installed packages.
I get a window with two columns, and 2 entries selected.
Seems to check the entry you select, but always has 2 selected entries.
Window is also larger than desktop.
See attached picture.

Seamonkey is running relatively well, but I am getting this error message a lot in /tmp/xerrs.log.

(seamonkey-bin:25144): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

Is this something to be concerned about?

Hai ..
I can make diskless thin client with humongous initrd on lucid 503.
I try again with lucid 520, but i can't. It can't found lupu-520.sfs file, and shows first :"boot partition not found".
I try with another computer, with a disk partition in it, it can.

I think, the new improvement of booting option is the problem.

.... I am not a programmer ... just try and try ...
Any one can solve it ?
Many thaks.

My problem solved by JAMESBOND : just append the parameter "pdev1=rootfs" at default file on pxelinux.cfg.

Thanks.

auto network

#134 Post by mhanifpriatama »

I can make thin client with lupu 503.
I can auto connection with my local server (lupu 510) and every client have auto IP gived by dnsmasq, but I don't know how to do that, just try network wizard and forget. :( .
If I create a new thin client, just remastering, or just copy whole rc.d folder.
But, I try with lupu 520 and copy whole rc.d from old rc.d, and no success.
May be something like 'first-run' disable rc.d because a fresh boot?
May be not a bug in lupu 520, just because i'm newbie.
Any one have idea?

More info on your hardware, type of install, network devices is needed.

Not a bug but the way things work in Lucid 5.2 having 2 window managers available to use. (Openbox or JWM)
I have read many problem posts that deal with the same problem.
Using the wrong program to change desktop settings and not seeing the changes.

At initial start Lucid 5.2 uses Openbox and Fbpanel for the desktop.

For setting changes:
menu->desktop->desktop settings->
Openbox-window manager config
Fbpanel-configuration

If you change to JWM with X-WM switcher:
menu->desktop->desktop settings->
JWM configuration

You can get some very good add on programs with this package
http://diddywahdiddy.net/Puppy500/PupCo ... -Lucid.pet

If you download and install, use PupControl-panel
It will auto detect what window manager you are using and only provide the proper configuration programs to use.
They will be in:
PupControl->settings->Window Manager Settings.

I am not sure

I see a time lag when starting apps compared to previous version

And it would be nice if someone can create a DNS change app and integrate it with PuPapplaucher

How much of a lag?
How are you running Lucid Puppy?
All apps in general or specific ones?

chrismt, do you mean shutdown firefox, and restart firefox or restart the computer?

If you are simply restarting firefox it will load much faster as firefox will still be loaded in the memory cache.
