YES, Yes, yes!

This is a masterful product. And, it, too, is one of new starlings we have in 2011. Didn't mean to overlook this.

Also, for those who havent tried it, not only does this work to make available multiple PUPs in a single ISO, JamesBonds Netboot utility will take the Multi-PUP ISO and present on your LAN for booting by other PCs across you LAN. When this ISO is used, the booting PC has a choice of which PUP he wants to boot from the MultiPUP Menu.

Thanks PuppyLuvr for this product.

Here's a link to exton's (exton seems to be an old newcomer ?) listing amongst others Exton's multiboot cd, containing lupu 518 amongst other minilinux's.

Contains also an instruction for installing to usb.

Haven't tried it yet but might interest you ?

Hi puppyluvr

Yes !Yes! What gcmartin said and more!
The best way to help Puppy and the community grow
is to share it!
The more versions that can be shared on a boot-able CD/DVD
the better the chances are that a new user will find one that
fits his/her needs.

Why do I use Multipup cd/dvd creator?
I can boot from a Multipup cd/dvd in to any number of “save files”
or “frugal” installs, and never have to install grub or any other
boot loader! No editing menu list!
Or I can just run any of the puppies on the cd or dvd in ram!

If I have an ext=2,3 or 4 partition (I have had the best luck with ext3)
I can install Multipup cd/dvd creator and then create remastered
pup’s that I have tailored for my hardware, settings and bling that boot
quickly to the desktop.
Then easily add them to a new multipup build!

The ability to add extra pet files and sfs files to the same cd/dvd
is very useful and a real time saver! (just add what you need after
booting).
I even add a pic’s folder and my bookmark html with latest
bookmarks and pdf files to the extra pets directory too.

And then there is the “Alien‘s"

Yes! There's more and did I mention it’s “FUN” too!

Thinking of doing another version?

Bob

Very Happy Hello,
Smile gcmartin,
The thought had never occurred to me!!
Your implementation of MultiPup is amazing and brilliant..
My mind never grasped the possibility..
As a mulitboot CD/DVD, that is a null point, as, if you wanna boot from the HDD, dont put it in... Razz Funny huh?? Should be on the label.. To boot from Hard Drive, do not insert this CD...

However, obviously an unanticipated need has arisen..
So a new release is in order...
To do:

1. Enable proper install and savefile operation while running the MultiPup CD/DVD.. Some layering issues prevent some versions of the Universal Installer and Remaster scripts from seeing the Puppy.sfs...

2. Include boot choices for the local HDD, and by request, Memtest86, which I removed for no real reason... Cool

3. Create a GUI for creating the Backsplash images used by Catdude`s excellent "Bootsplash Chooser", so (non terminal) users can have their own images..

4. Create another section to convert everything for USB booting...

5. I am considering removing the "Alien" section... It is, after MultiPup after all... Thoughts...???[/u]

Lookinglass360,
Thank you, i am glad to see use being gotten from it... For me, it is like a frugal install on a CD.. Handy to see which ones support what hardware the best...
Thanks for using it!!. Very Happy

Sounds great!
The only other issue that comes to mind is the drive tray not
opening when running in ram.
As I recall this only happened in the 4xx versions and up to lupu-511.
Can anyone else comment on this?

As for the Aliens, they been probed. Send em pack-en.
It will make more room for pets!

Looking forward checking out any new offering!

Thanks for a Great “Puppy” tool!

Happy tails!

Been trying to make a successful Multipup but can`t get any discs to boot. The error message I get has been reported before (see Jan 18, 2011 above) stalls at grub_ 'Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported'. I am folllwing all the pompts incliding the boot splash step. What am I doing wrong?

Hi pistoi0

I have not seen that error message since before MultiPup3.3.
Could you give some more info please?
Like what type burner device used? Type disk used?
Other hardware specs?
How did you link the iso’s?
Which burn program was used?
Which puppies are included?
Were you using MultiPup3.3 on an extx partition?

This ones is a little weird and off topic and may not have
anything to do with your issue, but are you able
to burn a usable Multi-session disk with this drive
and save a session to it and it then reboot it?

The drive I use now works great for making multipup's on
both cd-rw and dvd-r's but will not burn dvd-rw or +rw!
However the same drive will make an Muti-session disk and if
I boot it puppy pfix=ram all is well. but if I try to make an save
to the cd or dvd-r the disk can no longer be seen by either drive on this
computer but will work on “some" other computers but not all!

Just saying I’ve seen a small share of quirky Hardware!

So any info you can give may be helpful in one way or an other!

Even if I can’t help maybe someone who can will see your
reply. Bump

Good Luck its really a great tool if you can get it working!

@Lookinglass360

Here is the info you requested:

Like what type burner device used?
LG Super Multi
Type disk used?
Memorex DVD-RW
Other hardware specs?
Atom D525MW, 1.8 G, 2 Gs RAM
How did you link the iso’s?
Absolute
Which burn program was used?
Both Burniso2cd and PBurn
Which puppies are included?
Lucid 528, Slacko 531, Exprimo 5x13.5. Akita, 214X
Were you using MultiPup3.3 on an extx partition?
EXT. 2

This ones is a little weird and off topic and may not have
anything to do with your issue, but are you able
to burn a usable Multi-session disk with this drive
and save a session to it and it then reboot it?
YES

Curiously, I seem to be able to get all the elements in an ISO, except a menu list. The menu list shows up as a cogged wheel rather than a file.

Thanks, Lookinglass360, and hope you or another Multipup3.3 user can help me get this going.

I have a lot of hardware around here but nothing close to what
you have.
You might try downloading again, delete the old one and reinstall just to cover those bases.

Just a wild guess!

Lookinglass360, did as you suggested and d/l a new copy of Multipup3.3 -- without success. Perhaps you can tell something from my grub menu. Is this similar to what you get ?

# Grub Default Options
default 0
timeout 50
#color light-gray/blue black/light-gray
gfxmenu (cd)/boot/grub/Multipup
title lupu-528.004
configfile /lupu-528.004/menu.lst
title slacko-5.3.2.1-SCSI
configfile /slacko-5.3.2.1-SCSI/menu.lst
title squeeze-5.X.13.6-SCSI
configfile /squeeze-5.X.13.6-SCSI/menu.lst
