Hello,
@yarddog,
It is in /mnt/home/boot/grub/menu.lst
You must already have "Bootsplash for Grub" installed..
See here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=27471
Bootsplash just changes your splash image on every boot..
Clicking on it once sets it up, and it does the rest in the background..

I mean, that is so obvious, and I missed it...
Should`nt be to hard...
AIR, 1 series loads from "boot"...
(Edit No, that was Knoppix spins, ala dsl...1 series has usr_cram.fs..)
Gotta dig out my "Archive" lol and pull out some old Pup`s...
However...This might take more than 24 hrs...
Vacation is over, and the 3am "@#$% ,, You WILL Run" thing has to end... ..

Hello,
@Sir Jasper,
Yea, but heck, worth a shot....
ATM I`m doing my testing in VBox, which is a lot faster, and saves on cd-r`s for sure...And yes, I was unable to install it to my virtual HDD, but thought it might be a VBox thing...I`ll look deeper and see what I can find....
@Max Headroom,
Well, I plugged in the "archive", a 320gb USB drive...and the USB port broke off... opened it up, and the drive is sata...My board is a P3 600....Needless to say, no sata...Need an adapter...
So, can someone point me to a link to some 1 series Puppies...???

Hello,
UPDATE...
I retract my earlier assessment that both "relative" and "absolute" links were acceptable...
With further testing, it seems that certain conditions cause "relative" links to fail...
Easier to say "Always do "absolute" links"..............

Hello,
@Max,
Thanks, great link!! Got 109ce, and, "EEK"...image.gz...usr_cram.fs.. LOL....
Well, I have got to get to boot with grub with a new subroutine, but....On the bright side, it should be do-able...
I`ll be back...
P.S. While I was there, I grabbed slax as well, to add to the "alien" collection I`m testing...

MultiPup CD/DVD Creator
Good Day All!
Been looking around for clues as to how a new function might be added to pburn or burniso2cd to allow 900mb free space to be added or left at the end of each iso burn on 4.7 gb DVD’s for the purpose of allowing multi session with MultiPup.
It looks like a new sub function of ' Burn ISO-image ' would be necessary .
I’m no coder but found the reading here interesting;;/usr/local/pburn 'func_build command’
starting line 295
Perhaps a partition building program similar to what gparted uses to format hd’s might be of use?
I’ll be looking there after I look around at burniso2cd
Ignore; Thinking out loud again! 'Fishing trip'
puppyluvr; Sorry to to have dropped out of the testing, I to have been having hardware issues
after losing the DVD-RW drive on the 3.0ghz pc, the hd went on the 2.4ghz with the CD-RW
that put me on a hunt, what I found was a; Hp a 465c 3.0ghz 160hd 512ram with ralink wireless
pci card and DVD-RW drive. However the dvd drive was not functional so I replaced with a
CD-RW. So now back where I started minus dvd, but the price was at least right Courtesy of my local free cycle network! Thank You!
I did have a look at Multipup8 and all worked as expected. Didn’t try splashshow. Yet!
WoW your really banging them out! I bet that CatDude’s got something to do with that, amongst others! Thanks!
Details of my next fishing trip when I find time to go and hook in to something that can be fried!
For now the real world duties call!
A Great Day to All!
Bob

For what it's worth, I just booted the 109 ce cd in my old P3 test box.......no password was necessary. Hadn't seen Firefox 1.5 for a while.puppyluvr wrote: Hello,
I tried to boot 109ce, and it asked me for a login and password...is this normal??? What are they???
I have most of the official Puppy releases from about 0.74 and newer.....missing the real early releases.........if there is any in particular you need I'll upload a few somewhere for you.

Hello,
Yea, further investigation revealed that it isnt mounting usr_cram.fs on /usr...
Says "No space left on device" though I have plenty of ram...Gonna do a md5sum, maybe a bad D/L...
Edit
I D/L`d the multisession image...It looks for usr_cram.fs on the cd...
Will get another...

Hello,
@ Regarding installing a Puppy from the MultiPup CD/DVD...
I was finally able to get a few cd-r`s and test my hunch...
While running a Puppy from the live CD/DVD....
Mount the CD..
Run the Universal Installer...
When asked where are the Puppy files, choose directory..
Navigate to the mounted CD..(In my case, /mnt/dev/sr0)
Open the directory of your chosen Pup.
Click on one of the needed files, is initrd.gz
Continue with the Universal Installer...
I have tested this repeatedly....
It works fine....Directories created, menu.lst in /tmp/newgrubtext, etc...
Feedback...???

Hello,
The ever vigilant CatDude has pointed something out to me:
If run from within a pupsave, MultiPup returns "unknown" not the "ext2/ext3"
it looks for...
I could change it so that as long as it doesnt return "msdos" it would be satisfied..
But, would anyone really want to run it from inside a pupsave...I hesitate to make it able to.. If the user had less than 1.4 gb free space, MultiPup would overflow their save file, and could severely damage their Puppy...
Unless someone sees any reason to enable the possibility, I`ll probably just change the readme and instructions to include an "outside of your `pupsave` " comment..

MultiPup CD/DVD Creator
Good Day All!
puppyluvr;
Used MultiPup10, created Multipup.iso with 2 iso's and all seemed to go as
expected. However upon booting stalled at; "grub_" 'Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported'. Message?
Any clues?
Attempted an install from 1 of the disks made from Multipup8 last night after reading your post. This was not clear to me;
Quote; Click on one of the needed files, is initrd.gz
Continue with the Universal Installer...
As when I clicked on initrd.gz the installer seemed to close and a message
about expanding in this directory appeared. It was late!
Any help? Thanks as always!
Bob

Hello,
When "chosen" from within the Universal Installer, initrd.gz should not try to expand.....Only from within rox....From within the UI, it should just `highlight` and then you click "OK":
