Linux Mint Debian Grub?

Read an article on LMDE and thought that it would be interesting to look at BUT. grub strikes again. I have Puppy frugal on sdb5, grub files on same partition. I made a ext4 partition for Mint on it but Mint thinks it is sda (which is a blank ext3 hard drive for puppy file backup). I installed grub to the new ext4 partition thinking that I could cobble info into the puppy grub folder. No such luck.
Now I remember why Debian and I had issues, it's installation generally screwed other Linux installs. Any grub help gratefully accepted.
sda 160 gig extension3 with puppy backup files
sdb1 50 gig ntfs for windows 7 install
sdb5 70 gig ext3 with two frugal installs plus puppy grub and personal files + .SFS files
sdb6 22 gig ext4 with Linux Mint Debian full install includes grub file
Puppy will still boot normally, thank the powers that be.
