Lobster, You might give Catalyst drivers another try with Lupu-516. I have the same thing and I noticed that when it went to full-screen it does go white first. There is something (directfb) a bit different about 516 that *might* effect this so I think it would be worth a try. Thanks.
Usual thing, goes to about 20 minutes, video starts loading and then it just starts jumping frames, no sound . . .

Just downloaded Secondlife new version, which is a gzip file.
Just click to create a directory and then run the secondlife script.
This makes great use of the ATI catalyst driver.

Transmission pet working OK
wbar pet OK (both from PPM)

.ASF files play OK in mplayer but you have to drag them into 'play'
icon. Other media files autoplay when you click on them. Can .ASF be added to the list of files played by mplayer automatically?

Now to play Gridwars2 my favourite game at the moment
Not sure that will work on all machines - it is in the games thread about extra software

Code: Select all

# report-video
VIDEO REPORT: Lucid Puppy, version 516

Chip description:
oem: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500

Driver used by Xorg:

Video mode used by Xorg:
Resolution: Depth:

...the above also recorded in /tmp/report-video
#
Is it normal that report-video doesn't report the driver used , the video mode and depth?

Right-click on the ASF file and find "Set Run Action" in the drop-down menu.
Click on it and add "defaultmediaplayer" before "$1" in the shell command window.
Should be like:
(defaultmediaplayer "$1") without brackets
instead of: ("$1") without brackets.
Click "Use Command" to complete the setting.
Cheers.

Playdayz,

I've updated Psync to version 1.4 in the System section.

Yet again the time server text has changed slightly. This causes the report for Offset to have the seconds value missing.

I've tried to simply trap a future change by reporting two fields, one is currently empty. They keep swapping between both.

Iron 7 Doesn't Work

Now... If you get Iron version-7 from the new Pup News area, forget it.

Iron version 7 works fine for me. Do you mean that a specific feature
does not work or the radio station does not work?

Processor: AMD Duron
PCI Devices: Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS)

Iron 7 - Installs OK but will NOT even fire-up when clicked on!

Iron browser
I downloaded the Iron browser from the Lucid Puppy News.
I compared it to another download of Iron that I have been using for sometime.
The properties of them do not match. Do not remember where I got the first one, but I think it was the Lucid Puppy News also.
See picture below.
Could this be why Iron is a problem?

Further to my previous posts about being unable to create a working lupusave on the FAT32 partition of the K6 machine, I've done a bit more testing. Attempting to create the lupusave for a LiveCD install of Lupu 516 didn't work either, and after working through the older Luci versions 242 onwards also display the problem. However, the Lucis do boot normally with the lucisave that I initially created in Luci-238 and have used up to and including 246 without any problems (which was why I didn't try creating new saves earlier).

As a reminder, what happens is that after the reboot following creation of the save the boot process attempts to read the save file and puts up a lot of errors beginning with complaining about an invalid superblock and eventually finishing at a kernal panic.

I I had made the first pet without having Iron set itself as the defaultbrowser, so I made another one.

People who are having trouble with Iron 7. Can you open a terminal and run just 'iron'; and see what happens? Thanks.

Also, please try Chromium 7. That is the same basic code base but built by Ubuntu. It is in Quickpet.

Messages about "sns at bootup" and "sns icon on desktop" when frugal installing, but nothing actually there, maybe they need to be reworded to match what is actually there or further explanation of what is meant.
I don't recall those. At what point in install did you see them?
update:
just found I had to reboot computer rather than just restarting X after installing the Xorg high pet, nothing changed until then.
you've lost half a point.
You should not have to reboot, just restart X. After restarting you should be able to run glxgears. What graphics do you have? Perhaps you could boot fresh pfix=ram.....
Also had to obconfig and cancel in openbox to get the menu bar to have anything other than the menu start icon.
Yes, I have seen this but do not know exactly what causes it--did it happen when you rebooted after installing Xorg_High?

We need to know if there are any packages in Quickpet or PPM that do not work with Lucid 5.2. Thanks.

One way to set time accurately.

1. Set your timezone with Personalize Settings.
2. Use Psync.

To get the accurate result to display, you must use Psync *after* setting the timezone.

If you dual boot with Windows, then windows might reset your time.

Here's is tasmod's latest Psync 1.4.

Can some testers plug it in and give it a go round. Thanks.

Tried it on Merlin, seems to do the job without any problems. Used United Kingdom server since that's where I am. Timezone was set to Europe/London.

sorted, thanks. popped in and out of xp with no probs. used stock psync in 516.
is there anyway to make the psync autostart 'quiet'? ie no splash requiring ok click at boot?

Hey, I was wondering if I could make a request... Its for the Package
libv4l-0 (for the /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so)
So we can enable Webcam in Both Flash (Example For Meebo.com) and Skype :D Also Microphone Support... (I know theres a Webcam app but I mean it for this command

Code: Select all

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so firefox //  skype // chrome
And Stuff Like that)
Thats what enables Webcam for Flash in Ubuntu...
PS I've already tried the Package in the puppy repo

in your starting config screen when it tries to setup your network for you but if you have the network turned off (sat modem).

yes, all happened after xorg-high was installed, glxgears would not run at the faster rate until rebooted, tried restarting x first, got in mid 100's, rebooted got 3500+. Had noticed menu bar was blank after reboot (not just restart-x), all went back ok when picked obconfig and just cancelled out.

I will blow it all away as it's just a testset and see if it happens again, but later today.
UPDATE: Yes, sorry folks, same problems in exacly the same spots and something I missed answering before, I have an onboard video that uses the i915 driver.
Box is an Acer V3700GX using onboard video set at 256K if that's any help. I got a pallet load of bases plus monitors, etc. at a sale, fixed most up and sold at cost / gave to seniors up here for internet access preloaded with 431 and apps, all gone now except for a few i've been ratting for spares the last two years.

merry christmas, especially to those with children in the home.
