Geany Text Editor

#1 Post by aragon »

Home: http://www.geany.org/
Version: 0.20
Geany is a text editor using the GTK2 toolkit with basic features of an integrated development environment. It was developed to provide a small and fast IDE, which has only a few dependencies from other packages. It supports many filetypes and has some nice features.
Geany is the default text-editor for many puppy-versions.

Compiled and tested in 4.31.

This Version is patched for:
- Defaultbrowser for Help-Doc
- Execution of bash-scripts from within geany
- correct fonts.

a patch-file is also attched. The 0.19-2 patch works also for 0.20.

EDIT 20110205: Uploaded 0.20
EDIT 20100104: Added geany-plugins and geany-dev-file.

vanchutr,

place the patch in the basedir of the source-code (from memory) and run it with

Code: Select all

patch -p1 < geany 0.19.2 with 0.19.2_puppy_exec.patch
NOTE: this is only needed for recompiling.

Seems to run run OK in Puppy Luci 242 (Puppy 5.2 beta release)
Would it be better to have a native compile?

Thanks aragon,

I had to add this item in edit/preferences/tools/terminal-
"/usr/bin/xterm -hold" to see the results of an execute of a bash script.

Really appreciate your bringing the latest Geany,

Regards,
s

Hi seaside,

that should be fixed with this pet.

from memory i would say that the problem is, that there are allready Geany-Config-Files at

/root/.Config

so that the defaults won't be used.

To test, please rename

/root/.Config/geany

to

/root/.Config/SAVEgeany

and start geany new.

thanks

aragon,

Thanks for compiling. These little add-ons are handy additions. It's really hard to beat Geany, as it does most everything.

There is a new version out of Geany and its plugins.
compiles nice on PL-430/431/gcc4.2.2/glibc-2.6.1

what does/did disturb me much is the pre-checked "Close dialog" at "Search > Find all"

I was able to get the hook disabled at src/search.c [line 465++] :

Code: Select all

	/* close window checkbox */
	check_close = gtk_check_button_new_with_mnemonic(_("Close _dialog"));
	ui_hookup_widget(find_dlg.dialog, check_close, "check_close");
	gtk_button_set_focus_on_click(GTK_BUTTON(check_close), FALSE);
	ui_widget_set_tooltip_text(check_close,
			_("Disable this option to keep the dialog open"));
	gtk_toggle_button_set_active(GTK_TOGGLE_BUTTON(check_close), FALSE);
	gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(bbox), check_close);
	gtk_button_box_set_child_secondary(GTK_BUTTON_BOX(bbox), check_close, TRUE);
but (still) there seems to be a bug that greys out the [<-Previous]-knob if "Use regular expressions" is checked.

I configured it with
./configure --prefix=/opt/geany-020/002/usr --enable-gnu-regex=yes --enable-binreloc=yes --enable-fast-install=yes --enable-shared=yes --enable-the-force=yes --enable-bootstrap --enable-multilib --enable-debug

and stripped it is 1633KB /5599KB-unstripped and incl. everything after make install 7087KB /11MB .
