What program did you use to burn the ISO image to the CD/DVD?
What video card is in this computer?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Zakk,

I noticed you made two topics asking the same thing.
Not a very good idea. Being new no big deal, but does make things harder to help.
Just so you know. After logging on. You can edit any post that you make by selecting edit in the upper right corner of the post.

First understand that the hardware in your computer may be too new for Puppy.
Lupu 525 is probably the best choice at this time.
Having said that, there are some things to try that hopefully will get you booted to a desktop.

First lets try video driver problems.

Try this:
You are getting almost there, just not getting desktop.
To see if you can get it to work:
Boot with the Puppy Live CD.
At the boot screen hit F2.
Add the command puppy pfix=nox
This will get you to a prompt.
Type xorgwizard at the prompt.
Select the vesa driver.
set resolution.
(best to set to monitor native resolution or something close. Vesa driver limited)
run test to see if it works.
finish xorgwizard.
back at prompt.
Type xwin
should see desktop.

If this works, you can look for a better driver by selecting Quickpet on the desktop.
Under drivers tab.
Select Click here to test your graphics card.
Install the recommended driver.
Very important to follow directions given for install.

Report back if this does not work.
Give details of what happens.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Thanks Bigpup for your help. i did what you wrote and even with pfix=nox it's still give the same message and no prompt
i don't know why but i tried 'pfix=nox, ram' i suppose that puppy won't use the Ram but it did at the second line message when booting on CD. i used a mode for develooper (described in F3) it gived me a prompt but didn't recognise the xorgwisard command
that's all what i've done

Try this.

Boot with the Puppy live DVD.
At the boot screen hit F2 key.
Add the option

puppy acpi=off

Hit enter.

There is a chance that Puppy did not get burned properly to the disc.
Some windows burner programs do not work for burning Puppy to disc.
Also burning speed. Slow speed is best .No higher then 8X.

Here is some info on making a live Puppy CD/DVD in Windows.
