Description: "
KeePassX saves many different information e.g. user names, passwords, urls, attachments and comments in one single database. For a better management user-defined titles and icons can be specified for each single entry. Furthermore the entries are sorted in groups, which are customizable as well. The integrated search function allows to search in a single group or the complete database.
KeePassX offers a little utility for secure password generation. The password generator is very customizable, fast and easy to use. Especially someone who generates passwords frequently will appreciate this feature.

The complete database is always encrypted either with AES (alias Rijndael) or Twofish encryption algorithm using a 256 bit key. Therefore the saved information can be considered as quite safe. KeePassX uses a database format that is compatible with KeePass Password Safe. This makes the use of that application even more favourable.
"

Notes: "
Made using the Ubuntu Jaunty DEB because it does not need a newer glibc unlike the DEBs of newer versions of Ubuntu. It is still the current version of KeePassX.

The portable luncher script is from here: KeePassX • View topic - [HOWTO] Create KeePassX Portable under Linux.

I have preconfigured it for Puppy Linux. This consists of things like default Web Browser and Media Root(/mnt/).

I also Fixed the portable luncher. So it now gives any CL parameters to KeePassX.

It also includes its own QT4 libs which are from the "qt4-4.3.2.pet" off the forums.

If you are using a older version of Puppy Linux which is missing XZ support in Xarchiver, you will need to install my Improved Xarchiver Wrappers.

WIll this work in Wary Puppy? Got it installed but seems to shut down after I open my kdb file?

I doubt it would work, (although haven't tried!), as it would be 'buntu based. Instead you could try the version in this thread.

I am having the same problem as abexman - when I try to open a kdb file KPx immediately closes.

I´m surprised there are not more comments re: this Puppy version of a great app.

Puppy 5.2 frugal install

I loved this on my old install of Precise (5.1 IIRC), but when I upgraded to 5.7, it now quits whenever I try to do anything for lack of an icon file.

So thank you to the OP who made the file that I loved and used for so long, but a warning to those of you who are trying to use it "off label". Unless you are lucky enough to have that icon file in your system, it likely won't work.

Might you have overlooked the post from @Muggins, 2 post down from your request. He includes a link where he instructs resolution. If you have issues, post them on the link he provides.

Hope this helps

Call me old fashioned but I don't trust programs that retain all your passwords and critical info. To me, it seems logical to keep a paper notebook locked away in your drawer.

"Call me old fashioned but I don't trust programs that retain all your passwords"

Keepass and FPM2 seem to be quite safe, since they are separate programs that are built completely with safety in mind.
But I would always disable the "autotype" and all other automatic communications with other programs.
A website accessing the password manager and pulling in a password by itself, that's a huge security risk.
Cloud-based password managers are a whole different thing, I would never trust any passwords with them. The popular "Lastpass" password manager proved to be very vulnerable:

Figaro's Password Manager 2 is great, it comes with many puppies, but sadly often it's an old version. (FPM2 is at version 0.79 now!)

Yes it is. It is the last version released. But if it works what is the problem with that? Are you aware of any deficiencies in the 0.4.3 version?

I'm quite happy with password gorilla.

Yes 0.4.3, not 4.3
