Puppy Linux 5.1.1 and RaLink RT2800 Wireless Connection

#1 Post by N00bx1000 »

I hope this is the correct section.

I'm running Puppy 511 on a Dell C400, and using an RaLink RT2800 wireless pcmcia card. The kernel module being used is listed as rt2860sta.

I seem to have several wireless issues, and I'd like to be pointed in the right direction.

1. Regardless of how I attempt to connect, my connection is repeatedly dropped. The "active interfaces" taskbar icon doesn't show any change in status, when the connection drops. I thought I would try the following: wpa_supplicant + pwireless2 then wpa_supplicant + wpa_gui. The issue persists.

2. The Simple Network Setup gives me the following error: "Failed to associate 'linksys' with ESSID." This shows up with all encryption types, after I scan for networks and attempt to connect.

The first issue is the most pressing, while the second seems to be a bug that I wanted to point out. I'd certainly appreciate being pointed in the right direction with my connection issues.

Thanks all.
