Patchy wireless usb support in Puppy and Ubuntu?
I have tried various Puppy linux's and none have given the same connection quality as Windoze.
I'm currently using Puppy 5.1 and a wireless usb rtl8188s. It will connect to internet without any scripting. However, it nearly always loses the connection after varying amounts of time 15-60 mins. I have to use Pwireless or network wizard to re-activate the connection. Sometimes it refuses to connect at all.
My friend has installed Ubuntu on her computer (with built in wireless), and the wireless signal isn't as strong as when she was on Windows. Which makes make think that the Linux drivers aren't doing something that the Windows ones are?
What the current state of development of the Network Wizard and Pwireless? I notice on Pwireless the connect icon lags the actual connection status by quiet sometime (its a little annoying that clicking the icon disconnects the internet). Also on Pwireless sometimes when loading a Profile the correct details are loaded, other times it just shows the default.
