5.1.1 drops wireless connection after a few minutes Subject description: Re-running DHCP restores it - for a while |
|
I have installed puppy linux 5.1.1 on a dell inspiron 8600 and I love it !!
BUT
..the wireless keeps dropping after a few minutes. All I have to do is go into connect, choose the adapter and click on the DHCP button. after a few seconds its fine again.... until it drops out again
Everything else works brilliantly but can someone help fix this ?

Is this a built-in wireless, or a USB dongle? I have noted several people having trouble with USB dongles, myself included (though mine was being used on a desktop) -- I recently swapped my USB for a PCI card, and my wireless no longer drops out.
My Latitude with an installed card does not drop out (and IIRC, I had no trouble with my PCMCIA wireless card prior to installing the internal card).

It's a common complaint, with any kind of wireless device in 5.1.1.
Installing Jemimahs' "Pwireless2" solved the problem for me.
edit;
pwireless2v1
