@ttuuxxx, i have not downloaded the distro yet but i am intrigued as to what doc files use that amount of space?. Maybe the programs they refer to need looking at. My doc folder in my original dpup is only 232k.

This is better than gaculator, try the view menu and see the different layouts.

Thanks for the PET, I'll add it.

By the way, the huge docs problem is gone somehow, maybe it's one of the Lupu pets or something ...

This is the best bejeweled game on Linux. It uses those extra gnome libs that might get removed, but until then enjoy :)

As my interest in dpup is now aroused again, i have been playing with Aptitude on my dpup with promising results.
If there is any interest in me pursuing this further i will look further into it in fortnights time when i get back from my hols.
Attached is a splash screen of it working on my computer, i hope.

Fixed the link, thanks.

I attached 2 pets that fix menu icons for LXTask and a new gtkhash PET that is much smaller than the DEB.

I also attached a GPicView PET, dpup used it and many people like it. Additionally, I repackaged ttuuxxx's gcalctool pet. Just tell me what you think.

I'll try to compile ffmpeg and xine-lib later today or tommrow ... got a job interview in McDonald's

Let's hope they need my services :P

I'm pretty sure a new ffmpeg will fix pretty much all multimedia issues. Get the new fixes delta I uploaded, it makes it way better.

002 initial report

Flashplayer is broken in Seamonkey, Opera and Firefox, that's all I tested. (missing/broken lib/app) [curl]

Gxine wont stream anything.(missing libs) [cook and more]

Pmusic/Pcd wont work (missing libs) [schrodinger was first]

Luvcview no go (missing libs)

Abiword, Gnumeric no go (missing libs) [um, goffice]

Pburn, OK :D [well basic CD burn from data, so wodim is ok]

Gxine local files... mp4 Image, wmv Image, avi (divx and xvid) Image.. mp3 .. well lets say I didnt bother with a DVD.

Can we puleeese go back to mplayer, gxine is pathetic,

It's fun building an OS :)

Cheers

BMP Please

Squeeze 001 basics worked straight away. I would prefer BMP to Aqualung anytime or a complete ttuuxx bmp pet. Nice to see DEB advancing into the ring again.

4.3.2 V3, Lupu 5.1.1 and Fatdog in that order. :D

01micko, can you build a good ffmpeg and mplayer? Let's just try both. xine is dead in 002 because it has tons of dependencies in Debian, same goes for mplayer. They're simply huge.

Let's make our own packages ... maybe we make a repo for PPM with those.

btw: try to apply the fixes delta, fixes some issues :)

Fishy: need a BMP pet. I remember gposil modified it ... so need someone to make a PET, then we can compare it to Aqualung and decide who wins.

EDIT: try to install libssh2 .... it fixed GNOME-Mplayer in 001. Should fix curl.

I did so before, can do it again (hopefullly  , no need getting too cocky),

In Lupu I also tried to compile gxine/xinelib.. epic fail.

Be aware that the iso will grow somewhat. There are a ton of libs needed for a good ffmpeg, which IMO is the best, lightest media 'library' around. Compiling shared libs for ffmpeg seemed to work well. I'll give some things a try and hopefully there will be good multimedia support in this thingy.

(appendix... keep with 'dpup' monicker IMO for iso.. there are no toes to be trodden on  )

Cheers

Laptop touchpad tapping works in 001 but not in 002 for me - adding: Option "TapButton1" "1" to xorg.conf works for one double tap directly after restarting X then it reverts to not working again?

On the 002 version, i added the above package for vlc-1.1.0-i486-dpup.pet to work. Works great now - worked out of the box on 001.
see:

or

if you need the minimal qt deps of libqtcore and libqtgui.

stu90: tommorow I plan to do some experiment, add some minimal xorg.conf. That could solve the touchpad problems ... I work on my Core 2 Duo desktop machine because my netbook has an Atom processor and I don't want to compile stuff on it because of things like SSE3.

01micko: atm I'm working on ffmpeg. I'll try to make a good xine-lib too if it goes well :)

Hi there, I'm on dpup 002, running firefox because seamonkey segfaults and installing my 2.0.6 pet didn't solve the issue.
gtk-xfce theme engine seems to work ok.
Xorg works but I haven't tested any heavy games on it yet.
I still need to grab devx and maybe try to recompile seamonkey.
