Where did you find 2.1b1? I can only find the alpha series?

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/nig ... ral-trunk/

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/nig ... 86.tar.bz2[/b]

This one i just extracted to a ext3 partition, it creates the dir "seamonkey". I just click "seamonkey" from rox and it runs. It assumes the existing seamonkey profile. Thats the "no install" method, anyway.

I backup my "normal" seamonkey profile just to be safe. Nightly builds aren't always stable  .

Seatab X from here http://www.tom-cat.com/mozilla/extensions.html is a MUST for all versions of Seamonkey. Put it in the .iso?

Why the devs dont do it is beyond me..........

Before you read this: yes, I'm serious.

Well, as I said already, I have a new job (my first serious job).

I'm going to be quite busy till next week, I won't be home tommorow and on both Friday and Saturday. I'm going to work somewhere close to the Dead Sea. My netbook will accompany me (probably) but I'm almost certain that I won't have internet access.

So, here's my question: can anyone take it from here? I can upload all the custom PETs used in 005, all my Woof modifications and some required extras, plus a detailed guide with the exact 005 recipe so someone can make 006 and maybe even releases beyond it.

I'm not saying that I'm leaving this project or something, hell no; but I'm too busy (in the near future, at least) to work on it full-time and I'm a total idiot, I'm not very talented as you can see. We need someone to lead this project, someone with the right skills and the passion to turn this into a Puppy paradise.

I'm always here to test, fix bugs and whatever. I'm just offering someone better than me the opportunity to make 006.

EDIT: have you noticed the views count for the popular threads in this forum? Kinda interesting to see dpup gets lots of views, I guess people are attracted to the "Debian" :)

CRAZY : running dpup-001 and dpup-003 adding more screens works without problems !!!
the code is still original at /usr/local/jwmconfig2/virtualDesk :

Code: Select all

#----notify of result----->>

if [ "$RES" -eq "1" ]; then
  if [ -z $CHECKCONF ]; then
    RESTOP="Change Saved"
RESMSG="Now set for $CHOICE virtual desktops"
    rm -f $CONFIG2
Well, as I said already, I have a new job (my first serious job)
It's OK !!!

Iguleder congrats on the real job ;)

BTW, I tried compiling both mplayer and vlc.

mplayer didn't segfault but it wouldn't load subtitles and buged on dvd chapter change - it stops playing and exits.
vlc seems quite ok but it didn't handle subtitles either so I'm thinking we might be missing some lib that handles that, I'm recompiling vlc now with different options and will see how it works, I'm compiling it without gui this time, I tried ncurses but it sucks bad and dbus control system isn't properly maintained / documented to try to make some usefull gtk frontend.

sc0tman made a nice vlc-gtk frontend though which can be used.
without gui pet should be less then 3 MB and about 7 MB or less installed, I will also add rox right clicks to open video files with vlc.

Hi

gratulation to the developper(s) of squeezepup that I did recently discover searching infos about woof...

very fine and smart!

I we would have the same thing with sid and a re actualisation all trimester (woof and a global script?), we would always have the most recent linux distribution with avant-garde packages! and with in parallel 64 bit, woof-woof-woof !

salut

mtpaint 3.34.55

#282 Post by don570 »

I put together a pet package of mtpaint 3.34.55 that isn't much bigger than
current version.

Download here

I like the desktop theme except for the coloring of the icons.
It's better to use the method that Smooth-Color theme uses
i.e. a colored dot on top of disk icon. Here's a picture
to show what I mean.

Image

I made the changes into a pet package.
Just install pet and then choose Bluestep_Humanity desktop icon theme
again at the menu. You will immediately see the different icons.

vlc 1.1.3 (no gui) for squeeze is here
It needs libiconv from here

As you know, DEV and DOC packages are optional.
It compiles just fine without libiconv too, but then OSD and subtitles don't work. Plays variety of formats.

GTK frontend by sc0tman is here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy//viewtopic.php?t=54753

I will make pet for rox right clicks later.
I will probably make a QT4 gui build too but not today :)

I want to try to make an experimental 006 with the VLC thing, Seamonkey library symlinks and the help page fix.

I also want to try the original xorgwizard/xwin... this combo works in Quirky, so it should work here too. I won't be home till Sunday and I'm supposed to work 5 days a week ... so I'm not active as in the 001 to 004 era 8)

I'll upload all the custom stuff in 005 soon, I need to write a full guide how to build a 005. Once we have that things should be much easier.

The normal puppy password for user root woofwoof doesn't work with cups on this distribution. Anyone, know the correct one. Otherwise, Squeeze looks good.

Thanks,
Jim

Wow, just tried this and it is fast! Just curious, what is Dpup safe browsing? Doesn't appear to work for me, went to www.grc.com and it had no trouble showing my ip address immediately... Did I miss something? (Yes, I did use it from the Internet Menu...)
Anyway, looks really good so far.
