Certainly I and others are using Puppy Linux.

Sylpheed is fine; for no particular reason, I've been using claws-mail for a while.

When I initially transitioned from Windows to Puppy Linux, I thought Sylpheed would be an idea replacement for Pegasus Mail.

Wrong.

Sylpheed is more like some sort of Pegasus version 1.01

I'm presently using Thunderbird email both on Windows at work and Linux here at home. It is exactly what I need for an email client.

Pelo

i never succeed before with mails expedition

#34 Post by Pelo »

i never succeed before sending mails, perharps i miss some settings, but with Sylpheed in PuppyBang (hungarian pupplet Tahrpup 6.0.2) it's a success
" Nom du serveur SMTP d’envoi : smtp.aol.com sur le port 587 et validez SSL/TLS ou StartTLS pour des échanges chiffrés, utilisez le nom de compte complet avec @aol.com ou aol.fr "
But no trace in my official sfr.fr of this message.
I add my mail address in copy, that is ok,

wary 5.1.1, opera, and sylpheed

wary 5.1.1, opera, and sylpheed : could they live together regarding topic date 2010.
I'll check it right now and come back
Perhaps i did not enter the full address mail, that could be the reason why i failed on this old but efficient wary.
Gracias Medor, unfortunately the updater does not work with Opera, (i suppose Opera is the fault).
After checking my personal data, i wrote badly my main address
old version 2.7 does the job, in fact.
RED POINT in the screenshot : write your main address and your mail box becomes available.

Sylphhed 3.5.1

#37 Post by TIW »

At the end of downloading the sylpheed-3.5.1.tar.gz file, expanding, configuring, make, make install I got this message :
configure:3690: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong here. Thank you

Yes if somebody could make a pet or SFS of the latest version 3.5.1 that would be great.
The 3.4.3 pet doesn't work on Upup Raring 3.9.9.2, it doesn't start.
The 3.4.1 SFS works fine, but I'd rather use 3.5.1

@bruno

Can you test the following package? I have quickly tested it and it works for me.

3.5.1

Thanks Watchdog, the pet works perfect on Upup Raring 3.9.9.2

But just as with the 3.4.1, I'm always getting a message about some certificate not valid or too old, and asking me if I accept it.
Maybe this has something to do with the old Upup Raring?

Pelo

An user used to send mails would have been helpfull.

I search without being assisted and i got success, after hours. An user used to send mails would have been helpful.
Italian passengers don't have any forum ? Puppy Linux X-thar 6.0.2 build in Italia.
Where to get some help :
I found the solution thanks to claws topic Claws Mail 3.11.1 for Precise 5.7.1 by vicmz and facebook users (sitio del senor Nilson Morales), as our expert Medor seems to be on summer holidays

I'm not using precise. In precise I have installed the original sylpheed by BK (3.2.0). I tested my package of 3.5.1 in a precise live session just at this moment and it works and sends mails. Just a warning in console about libaspell.so. But it works.
