Hello John,
No, I have no PS/2 plug-in. Now I choose the third usb plug-in of the pci card. This works in most cases.
In this old machine with 256MB ram the Karamba sidebar crashes. In newer machines with more ram there is no problem. I would appreciate to use the sidebar. Is there any work around?

Use a serial mouse! May not be fashionable but does exactly the same and you'll find bagfuls of the blighters, under beds, in skips, w.h.y. Most decent boards still have a COM port header even if it's not brought to the backplane.

continual BAD download |
|
I have downloaded Legacy OS 4 times and have yet to get a download that matches the md5sum listed!
Downloaded 3 times from Softpedia and 1 time from meownplanet. I have used pwget once from Softpedia and used wget from the terminal 2 times. I used wget from the terminal when I tried the meownplanet download site.
I have used both the terminal and GtkHash to read the md5sum for each download. They are always in agreement. These md5sums never agree with the downloaded "correct" md5sum.
I have I crappy ADSL connection I have wasted nearly 10 hours trying to get a good download.
I know that pwget supposedly verifys the download as it is downloading, but I don't see why md5sums aren't correct.
Can anybody tell me how to get a good download?
I am running a 12 year old PII 350 which should match up with Legacy OS very well.

Do you have friends with better Internet who can download it for you?
Do you have an previous releases of TEENpup with Prozilla Downloader on them. I have downloaded 100's of iso's succesfully with Prozilla.
Sorry to hear you aren't having much luck downloading Legacy OS.

I live in a very rural location and don't know anybody locally who even has a computer.
I have downloaded about fifteen different puppy ISO's and have never had a problem. I will try the Softpedia and meownplanet sites again tonight.
@Aitch: I'll see if I can get the prozilla.pet and give it a try. By the way, I'm still trying to get a PIII 450 or 500.

Help with Prozilla |
|
I have downloaded and installed prozgui-2.0.4beta3-1.static.pet. There is a menu entry, and when selected it I get a gui which I enter the where to put the download. I enter the URL click OK and the gui closes without anything happening. I don't ever get to the download menu.
I know that I'm not the brightest bulb in the house but, this has to be the most counter-intuitive program that I have seen, since DOS. And I can't find any Help Files.
I want to download http://www.meownplanet.net/puppylinuxstuff/TEENpup/legacyos.iso and use User = puppy password = linux
How do I do that? Help!

Hello don922,
I've created a simple user's Guide for Prozilla download from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/uk7nmaxt3rgo3ur/Prozilla%20User%20guide.pdf
If you don't see these boxes then Prozilla isn't working correctly and most likely crashing. (Missing Dependences / Libraries ?)

Don
You can also try multiget, which you may find easier
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?mode=attach&id=10026
This program needs wxGtk libs installed. These can be downloaded from here
http://www.esnips.com/doc/2bd88906-61ad-4b6f-8d09-8b1b8f5da237/wxGTK-2.8.7-i486
Run via Menu->Internet->Multiget, or by entering multiget in a console.

My jinx continues Subject description: bad md5sums |
|
I uninstalled prozgui-2.0.4beta3-1.static.pet and installed prozgui.pet; which seems to be working. I have downloaded Legacy OS 2 more times from Softpedia with Prozilla and the md5sum didn't match either time.
@john biles: I hate to admit how dumb I am, but I can't figure out how to download from mediafire. I have attached a graphic of what I'm seeing -- what do I do to get the pdf to download?
However, the reinstalled version Prozilla seems to be working okay. Also, I can't see how to use the username & password in Prozilla so I can try the meownplanet download site.
Maybe there is just too much line noise on my internet connection, but I have never had this problem downloading from ibiblio, Puppylinux.ca, or Puppylinux.asia.
Anything else I can do to resolve this problem?

Hello don922,
The link works for me. You just have to wait a minute or 2 for the download link to appear. Not to worry I've zipped the pdf up for download here. it's not a big guide and you most likely have already worked out most of it. With over 7000 downloads from Softpedia your the first to say the MD5sums don't match? I hope you have more luck soon.

don922,
I see that John Biles has already responded, but will add a couple of things to what I see -- just for future reference.
Attached in a screenshot of what I see when downloading from that link, with a thin red circle around the actual download link.
I put a heavy red circle down in the extreme lower right of my screenshot which is where you have your No-Script icon. (The icon is missing in my .png only because I have not loaded it in the Puppy version I am currently using. But it's a good add-on to have!) Although it looks to me as if you have already enabled scripts on the page you are trying to download (and I am pointing this out for the benefit of others), No-Scripts function (when enabled) is to stop unfamiliar web sites from doing so.
