*the "BB" is big bass so I wouldnt confuse this with the other one I compiled

P.S mplayer can be built with many optional codecs
this was the "all package" then I added more updated codecs for RealPlayer

Yes, big_bass I would like to ask you, please, to disclose the details of the applications you are contributing. I'm concerned that it leaves users in the dark about what features are included and what is the default configuration.

Even if this MPlayer is an update of your earlier MPlayer package, please provide a link to the earlier announcement so users can check the details there.

I mean no offence. I'm trying to bring some knowledge management to the disparate collection of Puppy addons.

I'm especially concerned about what audio output you have configured. If you have not configured ALSA, this may cause problems in the future if Barry releases a Puppy version with OSS emulation support disabled in the ALSA audio drivers - which some distributions have done already.
This may not be such a problem with MPlayer, since I think it will automatically choose a compatible audio output method, but it IS a problem with XMMS (which I see you have also contributed) because if the configured audio output in XMMS does not exist, audio output fails.

Regarding the "fullscreen fix", I believe this fix only applies to the non-optimal "x11" video output, but I will let big_bass elaborate.

this link below was a Mplayer for a P4

but doesnt work on all machines
so I made this mplayer for those who dont use a P4 (It works fine on a P4 also )

I took your suggestion about the i486 option then recompiled and I took the suggestion of MU to use the codecs folder I added realplayer 11 codecs because the standard codecs had video but no sound and this fixed the RealPlayer audio problems



my main goal here is I built this on puppy for puppy
instead of borrowing from someones distro filling a missing dependancy list which can be very large with Mplayer

I used the "all codecs" package from the mplayer main download site

I lost my internet connection yesterday due to high winds it should be re connected tomorrow I am at an internet cafe just to check my mail but didnt want to be rude and not respond to your post
I will provide links and any other info that is on my machine at home

this gives you many more options when using seamonkey or firefox browsers


so to sum it all up this is a better Mplayer than the first one I built
it allows realplayer also now and hopefully is more useful because it was compiled for puppy on puppy i486

I had a full screen problem with the last mplayer I built luckily it was an easy fix and I made a quick patch

the full screen fix just added the zoom in the config file
that allowed full screen view for puppy 3.01 and your latest version 4

oh before I forget your gxine can play more formats than the auto launch allows in version 4 drag and drop proves this off the top of my head it was flac and RealPlayer and MP4 a simple fix
to offer even more formats

these attached MIME -types are for version 4
can help you have more options

major differences are

compiled on puppy 3.01 shared libs cpu detection targeted i486
with the all codecs (even if its large I wanted a complete package)
if size is an issue remove the" un needed codecs "
after its installed thats fine too and you have more power to chose what
to leave

that marks a difference between whats currently available

maybe I will offer a lite version maybe not depends on what people ask for



I made a realplayer 11 pet the latest codecs came from that
and are not available anywhere else at the moment
I figured out that those could be used and that fixed an "undocumented " Problem that Mplayer had

and your always on top of things

thanks for allowing me to up load my pets to your server

until it gets fixed I advise people th use wget -c in front of the URL
that verifies and continues if there is a glitch that interrupts the down load and it also controls the down load speed well

As you now, Radeon VE has troubles with TV out so I need use vesa:vidix for TV out. I’ am selected you precompiled version of mplayer but I don’t now how to correct installed it !

After untar MPlayer-1.0rc2BB-486.tar I copy files to

Etc => /etc/
Root => ~/
Usr => /usr

But after command mplayer –vo vesa:vidix test.avi
mplayer –vo xvidix test.avi
mplayer –vo X11:vidix test.avi

I’ am received answer: … no VIDIX

whats wrong is I made a pet not a tar
it auto installs no command line needed
just checked the package its there

/root/MPlayer-1.0rc2/vidix

if you come back in about 2 hours I will have the lighter version available too

it is a pet
only click on it it auto installs
the sever is unstable for downloads
a good practice is to use wget -c -N URL goes here


you can do numerous downloads that way wget is the best download manager you can use and easy
