Hi Sky,Sky Aisling wrote:Hello,
I'm having no joy attempting to make hplip_print_scan_tahr64-3.15.9.pet to work on two of my machines. One machine is a 32bit machine the other is a 64 bit machine.
I am running the same Tahrpup on both machines, one via CD, one via HDD.
To my surprise when I run a startup check to see which version of Tahrpup I am running the check tells me that I am running a 32bit Tahrpup NOT a 64bit Tahrpup.
Will this make a difference in the hplip_print_scan_tahr64-3.15.9.pet running?
Thank you for your reply in advance.
Couple things to consider.
The 32-bit machine cannot run a 64-bit operating system.
The 32-bit operating systems cannot run the 64-bit driver.

You can find kernel version by typing
Code: Select all
uname -r

How to Install Your Printer/Scanner in Puppy
Hello perdido,
Do you know where I find a hplip .pet to match this configuration?
I've searched but to no avail.
Thank you for taking time to reply.
Sky
I am running Tahrpup-6.05 32bit with kernel 3.14.56. (note: I update through quickpet regularly)Couple things to consider.
The 32-bit machine cannot run a 64-bit operating system.
The 32-bit operating systems cannot run the 64-bit driver.
You will need the 32-bit hplip_print_scan driver compiled for the kernel version in the 32-bit install (like the hplip_print_scan_tahr64-3.15.9.pet is for kernel 3.15.9)
You can find kernel version by typing
in a terminal window and hit enter. Once you know kernel version then just need to find the correct driver.Code: Select all
uname -r

Sky,
Looks like I was wrong in assuming the last numbers in a hplip driver package are kernel version, they are the driver version.
Was just a coincidence that the numbers were so close to the kernel version.
So the driver versions are not kernel specific.
That makes it easier to get a working driver. So the latest it seems is 3.14.4

Those are from here, lot of different versions of various drivers.

Help needed -- using an HP 3500c scanner with TahrPup. For some reason, I can apparently scan again and again as long as i do NOT use the preview window function to preview When i do that, i get the message I installed the hplip_scan-3.16.x.pet package, still no joy.=, even after rebooting. Any thoughts?
Some similar loss of connection with PeaseyScan, but not all the time. Still not sure if it has to do with scan mode (color/lineart, etc.). Thoughts?
EDIT: Seems it definitely is tied in with the color mode only, not Grey or other settings. I've tried the various matrices (NTSC, etc.) to no avail. Will keep testing as able, but feedback appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply (and this entire thread!)
Sorry -- i should have mentioned i was using xsane first.
I don't know what driver i was (or am now) using nor how to determine that -- ?? If you can tell me how to find that out, of course i will post it.
I did follow the advice at an Arch Linux forum and added hpaio and hpoj to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf. but that didn't seem to help.
Gracias....

IDK if this helps:
Trying to get beyond "usbfs," both and didn't seem to yield much info (as per this post)

Duh -- ! I should have thought of that. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I rebooted with the pfix=ram option, previewed in color, then scanned in color -- and it worked! But then when i previewed again, the same error message appeared. Je n’ai pas de joie...

rcrsn51_foomatic20140426
Recently I've seen questions concerning the availability of these nice foomatic driver pets rcrsn51 graciously provided years ago. I happen to have a copy of the 2014.04.26 version and the patch JICSH.
The files are available HERE
The main file, the patch, and an md5sum file are there. These are pets, not zipped files per se.
Regards
8Geee

Thanks, 8Geee. I switched to an Epson scanner (Epson Perfection 2360). Thankfuly, it works -- albeit VERY s - l - o - w - l - y ! !
So - for anyone stumbling on this later -- if your scanner is recognized, and you push "preview" or "scan" but nothing happens right away, I suggest waiting -- like head over to Distrowatch and research a half-dozen new releases. If your scanner is going to work at all, it should make some noise before you finish reading up on them all...

Can't Get Printer Working in Puppy
So far I have not been able to get my HP 8600 All-In-One OfficeJet to work. I am not the greatest with Cups so, I have tried so many suggestions. Any info on how to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

So -- in order to not be redundant, what have you tried so far? I assume you downloaded the HPLIP package, anything to do with HP from the repositories, and checked the HP website? Are you using Ubuntu-based Puppy or Slacko?

Brother Multifunction HLL2395DW
I got a Brother HLL2395DW multifunction printer/scanner, downloaded the driver .deb files from the Brother site, and installed them. I then set up the printer wirelessly, setting a fixed ip via its LCD panel, and installed the printer via Puppy's printer admin (I use AppSocket option). To set up the scanner, I ran in terminal:
brsaneconfig4 -a name=Brother Model=HL-L2395DW ip=(fixed ip address)
Then I ran xsane. Xenial, Slacko & Lxpup did not have an option for wireless scanning, so I added in the wireless part from bionicpup xsaneshell (in /usr/bin). Attached as as .pet below. I re-ran xsane, and it works (tested in 64 bit pups above).

Thanks Ozsouth, using it with a Brother MFC-J450DW installed and running on upupbb-18.05 32-bitozsouth wrote:I got a Brother HLL2395DW multifunction printer/scanner, downloaded the driver .deb files from the Brother site, and installed them.
