No NVidia drivers included ?

Hi Martin,
I am running your latest version now again on a Athlon X2 3800
with NVidia 6150 motherboard graphics and it only makes
1280x1024 on my 1920x1200 monitor.

The graphics chip can easily do 1920x1200 and XORG Wizzard also
shows it, but then it switches back to 1280x1024...

So did you include an NVidia driver or how can I install this additionally ?

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

@ hartiberlin

There's an Nvidia driver here:

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... 6.33.2.pet

It might be worh looking in this section for ideas/suggestions:

@ pistoi0

Did you install the Python.PET file as well?

It worked for me using the following PET files:

Xorg High for Intel GFX ( have Intel GFX onboard )
Python
XBMC

Only tested on LAN network, worked perfectly for me.

@Chrome

Thanks for the assistance. I did a fresh download of PLB and all the pets you suggested with no luck. When I run in terminal, I get dependency errors. This continued even after tracking down libjasper. I must be missing a package somewhere along the line.

Has Browserlinux died. Are there problems that we do not know about. This is a good release for kids to use with livecd for internet safety.
I want to thank you for all your hard work.

Hi l2ulinux,

No, not died, but it was time to wake me up.
Next weekend I will make a new version with the final Firefox 4 and an updated Flash.

I fraking *LOVE THIS*. Tremendously awesome. I should have taken the time years ago to thank you for a much earlier version of this puplet- it allowed my mom to continue to work on her computer after she had installed so many anti-viruses (and i'm talking corporate versions, she equates $$$ with how well something works) on an xp box with 256 megs of ram it would take over a half hour to boot :). I popped in browserlinux and she used it until she bought a laptop over a year later- all she wanted to do was surf, IM, and bank, and browser linux was a God send. And now this?!?! Just fantastic. I think this is the best UI extant in puppyland, and i will definitely be burning copies for friends of my wife who've been looking for just such a pup!

If you have the time, please update it. This is a puplet definitely worth keeping alive!

oooups that is spreading. VLC and what was the other program also complaining.

Can one not fool it with Spot or Fido then?

One guy did he not hack Chromium to accept root? I use seaside's SFS-Exec loader and use this sfs

chromium12.0.703.0-77939w5.sfs

sure it says that the flash is too old but one can say that one want to run the flash anyway and it accept it and then it say that it can not show a certain page and then one do a go back to the screen that first came up and then it allow the new url so it works from then on.

yeah odd behavior but it works with a little tinkering and loads fast and unloads fast too.

For the Chrome/Chromium/Iron/Aluminium/Zinc lovers:

would your Iron for Browserlinux.pet also work in Mijnpup and other puppies?

@ puppymartin

Thanks for the update :)

BTW Is this still built using Lupu 5.1 ?

Two answers:

Nooby: The Iron-pet is Browserlinux only. I can make a Puppy-version
(Isn't there already one?)

Chrome: yes this Browserlinux is a fatfree Lupu 5.1

Well it was made once maybe even for me. But I am not sure. My brain is not good at remembering things. A friendly member of the fourum made it to me. So if there is an official one that would be cool to test too.

Okay your version works in browser but not in Mijnpup? Surprises me. are them that different? No criticism but I have naive ideas how kernels and puupies are set up. too superficial views.

There is no desktop-file in the pet, so Iron will not show up in the openbox menu of Puppy (after a fixmenu it will also disappear from the JWM-menu).
But the application will start in Puppy/Mijnpup with the icon on the desktop, I think.

EDIT Iron for Puppy:

This is the greatest (small) puppy to date - I LOVE IT :D :D

I must confess that I'm a TiddlyWiki evangelist ... - and I've had a lot of fun making remasters of BrowserLinux which are dedicated to run TiddlyWikis...(TW-OS) and Browserlinux lends itself to easy localisation -> ( TW-OS-dk) The danish version is based on your latest version of BrowserLinux, and I have replaced FireFox with a danish version.. (by overwriting the /usr/lib/firefox directory )
My Danish TiddlyWiki forum

I was so happy with the results, that I announced it here on the PuppyThreads

A year ago I was learning how to run a simple http-server with your puppyservers - however it seems that those puplets have been removed - and cannot be downloaded anymore. That's a shame...

Just now I'm trying to setup BrowserLinux as a simple server with webERP.
I was hoping that it would work out of the box - as the webErp petpackage was made on a Lupu-510 system, however it doesn't..
When I tried to startup Hiawatha I was missing two libs libmcrypt.so.4.4.8 via a symlink libmcrypt.so.4 and libcurl-gnutls.so.4.1.1 via a symlink called libcurl-gnutls.so.4
I found these dependencies on another installation (also Lupo-5.1) copied them into the /usr/lib directory (and made symlinks)...
Now I don't get any descriptive errormessage just:

Code: Select all

Error binding 0.0.0.0:80
The reason why I'm so interested in getting BrowserLinux to act as a server is that I have a php-based wiki-environment, that I would like to be served directly from a Live-cd/dvd to a local network....

Its called TiddlyHome and is a perfect wikisolution for small groups of trusted users on a local network...

I would be very very happy if you'd give me a hand in getting webERP up and running on BrowserLinux as it would be of interest for a big community of TiddlyWiki enthusiasts as well.

Cheers from a big fan of yours!!
Måns Mårtensson

full report when trying to run hiawatha and mysql:

Code: Select all

# /etc/init.d/rc.httpd start
Error binding 0.0.0.0:80
# /etc/init.d/rc.mysqld start
# 110510 19:26:34 mysqld_safe Logging to '/usr/local/var/tiddlypc.err'.
110510 19:26:35 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/var

I just found your monkey webserverpet
I followed the instructions however I haven't managed to make it work yet...
Could you make BrowserLinux capable of running the monkey webserver ??

That would be awesome :D :D

Hi Maans,
Monkey works with Browserlinux.

The steps:
1 Install monkey-0.9.3.1.pet
2 Install php-4.3.7.pet
3 Install MYSQL and PHPMYADMIN clone

Then start
/usr/share/applications/monkey_webserver.desktop
And "Stop Webserver"
And "Monkey Config"

Add this after "AddScript", line 123

Code: Select all

AddScript application/x-httpd-php /opt/php/bin/php php
AddScript application/x-httpd-php /opt/php/bin/php php3
Save and "Start Webserver"

Surf to:
http://localhost/ or,
http://localhost/php/index.php or,
http://localhost/php/adminer.php
