  1. Run with pupsave
  2. Uninstall PET if found in the Package Manager.
  3. Look in the directory '/initrd/pup_rw/lib/modules/2.6.33.2'
  4. Click the eye icon to see hidden files
  5. Remove the files if exists: 'misc/vbox*' or the hidden files, '.wh.misc' or 'misc/.wh.vbox*'.
  6. Reboot PC
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have any of these files.. Even after running VB..

Still no vboxdrv module found after modprobe... 'lsmod | grep vboxdrv' returns nothing..

Just in case anyone has the same issues as me, here's the 'solution':

boot without a save file, install vbox, THEN create a save file..

Obvious I know..

Sorry it's not obvious to me...'
I've compiled/installed vbox ver 3.2.10 from source in Puppy.511 with Lupu_devx_511.sfs and kernel_src-2.6.33.2-patched.sfs loaded at boottime..
I get the exact same errors as you did...
I can't compile without first creating a save-file...
What do you suggest?

Should I install it as a pet first - then "overwrite" the intalled pet with a new install??
Or do I have to create a pet from my compiled version - save it - and boot into a new puppy instance, and install it before I create a save-file??

Cheers Måns Mårtensson

To maans:
I still don't think the savefile- at least by itself- is the issue, as I only tested my PET with existing save files, and I restarted my computer each time after installing my dotpet and before running VBox for the first time. (The first tests had nothing else installed, then more had the devx and kernel source SFS files loaded, and then I installed to my working Puppy installation, which has all kinds of things installed.) The savefiles' sizes ranged from 512 MB to 1.5 GB and up, and all the VBox installations were able to run things like Windows XP and FreeDOS without any issue. I also used both ext3 savefiles and encrypted ext2 savefiles, so I doubt it's that, either.

My advice to you would be to try whatever you want to do with a savefile first, since that has worked repeatedly for me. If that doesn't work, then try sc0ttman's preceding suggestion.

Yeah, as a last resort only, I booted without a save file, installed Vbox, then created a NEW save file..

This, for some strange reason, was the only way that I got it to work.. For others it will/may be different...

Is there anything for vbox-4.1.12?

#21 Post by ChickenFur »

Hello,

Just curious if anyone has created an install file for the latest version of virtualbox.

Thanks!

Latest VBox release would be 4.1.14, and I'm going to package those up in a few hours. EDIT: 4.1.14 is now available.

Either way, you'll want to periodically check the following thread to get a recent VBox to install.

Alternatively, you can visit my little website, here, for the same information and downloads, whichever works best for you.
