What version of Puppy Linux do you have?

I found a similar question here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 9604c20028

There is also a few alternatives on this page: http://www.linuxalt.com/

Don`t know the functions,
- there are programms like Kino, Kdenlive or Cinelerra, which may be oversized (Cinelerra).
If there is a version for your puppy, update the package manager and explore, or try the search:

Imagination is what you want. I know someone somewhere have made a pet for this.

Cool, looks more easier than smile and with less deps.
... if we are able to find this fortuitously.

I downloaded the deb from sourceforge and installed in lucid 508.
Could import some images and could create a .flv file.

Easy to use.

No luck with lucid 508 also, neither with pet, nor with deb or ubuntupackage with PM.
(command not found)
Works halfway on puppeee 431(5), installing the pet.

Imagination starts now on fresh, clean Luci.

PuppyPackageManager:

Export to VOB, OGV, no Flash.

Strange. I type imagination in a lucid 508 terminal and it starts.
There is however no output to mp4 or avi.
I generated a flv file.

No, Linux has no solution even coming near to userfriendly Windows Moviemaker. No distro can decently handle microphone+webcam and same goes for Wine and Virtualbox. Linux blocks webcams in Virtualbox.

I have read about these programs and as usual did not find words "microphone; webcam".

What exactly do you do with moviemaker, webcam and microphone?

Really? Do you know that linux version of skype, which definitely makes good use of webcam and microphone, works fine in recent puppies?
and same goes for Wine and Virtualbox. Linux blocks webcams in Virtualbox.
I almost fall off my chair. Linux blocks webcams in VirtualBox? Then how can I get the picture I attach here? WIth photoshop? :D

I had quite some distros on total 3 desktop computers.

Most of the time I used SUSE, last was 11.2

Webcams in Skype and Messengers worked in SOME cases and not always; cannot get my 2 different webcams to work in Puppy Lupu 501.

Never got a microphone to work, not either in my present Puppy 501.

SUN virtualbox in SUSE, added winXP: USB webcams visible but blocked/grey. I got confirmed on Dutch Linux forum that (at least) SUSE kind of claims the webcams for "dedicated use", so not permitting the use in VirtualBox/Windows.

What I do with webcam & mike in Windows Moviemaker .... cannot you imagine? Examples: testing both, using acoustic guitar ..... or all kind of family films, suitably small to add to email.

I tried a lot of video programs in SUSE; one or two caught a webcam, never a microphone.

I didn't know one can use Moviemaker to capture video. I thought it can only be used for (simple) compositing.
If you want to capture video, the tool available is UCView. It's available for puppeee, but I'm not sure whether it's available for other puppies.

sox incomplete?

In puppy 4.2.1 (TEENpup mini)

after installing sox-14.3.1-p5.pet and imagination-2.0b1-p4.pet I get

error while loading shared libraries: libopencore-amrnb.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

what should I do now?

GUVCVIEW (2 pet versions download links found elsewhere in This Forum) is the solution; tiny prog, n00b-friendly, sees webcam and microphone immediately, easy saving of files that can be fit in openshot as wel ..... I consider it a must-have, for rehearsing myself with guitar and for small family-movies attached to e-mail.

thanks Willem--I had followed the thread and had been wondering if there was something like that. Always good to post solutions.
