BTW: Can I get Seamonkey to import my Puppy 1.0.4 Mozilla E-mail address book and Browser bookmarks or will I need to manually transfer them?

On my wife's PC with 1.0.7 I was able to bring her Suse Mozilla address book across to Sylpheed but it is not integrated and is a real nuisance for her to
dig into for the purpose of using one of her saved E-mail addresses. I have not
even tried to bring the browser bookmarks across yet.

I am hoping to discover that Seamonkey will import and fully integrate
all of that saved data. (I have her files and mine on an external USB drive so
I can get access to it as needed.)

Thanks! doc

Just noticed that "Ctrl n" opens a new Mozilla window but I cannot open
one from the menu or the desktop icon.

Does that help to know?

Seamonkey-bookmarks:
Use ROX-filer.
Click on the "show-hidden"icon.
Search the bookmarks-file in /root/.mozilla/user/XXXYYY/bookmarks.html
Copy it to /root/.mozilla/OtherUser/AAABBB/bookmarks.html

The EMail-adresses might be similar, I have none,so I can't tell you which file it is.
Search the file with such a command:

cd /root/.mozilla
grep -r "edoc-example@somewhere.com" *

Like this you should find it.

In Dillo you can import the mozilla-bookmarks too, see here:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=5434
To edit preferences, click on "V" -> options.

That is what the first message in this thread was about.
Please open with leafpad the file "/usr/local/bin/mozilla" and control that the changed line is in there.

OK, had to resolve a partitioning challenge but am now back to the
Mozilla to Seamonkey bookmark and address book adventure.

I opened up the /root/.mozilla/default/xxxxxx/ location and located the
bookmarks.html file.

I then opened the same on the external HDD drive where I had saved
my root and usr folders.

I did the copy. No joy.

I then went to the Seamonkey folders and wherever I found a bookmarks.html file I changed the name to bookmarks-old.html and then
copied the old one in its place. Oddly enough between Mozilla and
Seamonkey copies of the bookmarks.html file are scattered across five different locations!

/root/.mozilla/default/7oma673h.slt/bookmarks.html
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.8b1.5/defaults/profile/US/bookmarks.html
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.8b1.5/defaults/profile/bookmarks.html
/usr/local/seamonkey/defaults/profile/US/bookmarks.html
/usr/local/seamonkey/defaults/profile/bookmarks.html

Still no joy.

Mozilla - Seamonkey Bookmarks [SOLVED]

#23 Post by edoc »

edoc wrote: Still no joy.
Silly me ... went to the Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks, File, OPen Bookmarks File and then went to one of the locations of the version of
the populated Bookmarks file I wanted and grabbed it.

Then I just moved things around to merge everything well.

Then I organized the categories alphabetically.

Done! ;-)

I like the way Seamonkey is designed much better than Sylpheed.

Now on to the Address Book.

Thanks! doc
