Sylpheed and GPG: tips to get them working
If you want to run GPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) with Sylpheed you'll have to download the GPG source http://www.gnupg.org/(en)/download/index.html and compile. Then download the latest version of Sylpheed http://sylpheed.good-day.net/en/download.html and use ' ./configure --enable-gpgme ' and compile. This will create a "Privacy" tab in "Common Preferences" menu. See Question 14: http://sylpheed.good-day.net/faq/en/sylpheed-faq-2.html#ss2.14
Important note: You'll have to have have gpgme http://www.gnupg.org/(en)/related_software/gpgme/index.html compiled before you ./configure sylpheed.
When I attempted to compile gpgme it threw an error indicating it couldn't find the library libgpg-error, so I had to download and compile libgpg-error http://www.gnupg.org/(en)/related_software/libgpg-error/index.html.
Seems to be working so far. I like Sylpheed (it's fast) and with the addition of GPG I like it even more! And the new install didn't wipe out my inbox.
