there are always configurations needed to get everything from default to just working
then quite some time fine tuning everything

this isnt a src2pkg problem it is jumping into complex packages
just for fun take a look at xcfe and see how many dependencies only that are needed

if you want a list of some easy packages I will have some time tomorrow
to post some but meanwhile
i was amazed how easy - it really is :D
nothing is wrong with src2pkg :D just my skill level.
I know i lacked the skills for the complex stuff but about half of the apps tested - worked.
Most failed due to missing dependencies

Thank you Big_Bass and Amigo
I'm working alot of overtime but if you would like to send an list.

bacon-1.0.24 upxed the bin
http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/bacon-1.0.24-2_SLXR.tgz
everything you need to get started with BaCon

==============================================
==============================================
Memo: as new puppy versions come out everyday
I am working on learning BaCon and writing some new apps

and pressing forward to some new things that havent been already done before

the first BaCon app I started on (GatorDog and I completed )is to
take Keywords from a programming language and add syntax coloring
its called bacon2bb it converts Bacon code to this fourms BBcode
for color viewing of the keywords here is an example
when you convert BB code to html it looks like this

http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/bacon2bb.html

a big file example with 3 colors
http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/hug-colored.html

anyone who ever did a web page knows
there is no easy way to add color to a custom
keyword list bacon2bb auto generates this :D

bacon2bb

http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/bacon2bb-2 ... 1_SLXR.tgz

replace its a dependency
http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/replace-2. ... 1_SLXR.tgz

this opens up the possibility to many new things
such as code conversions from one language to another since all the keywords are recognized they could be exchanged to a super powerful (sed or replace program )
for sources as is bacon2bb is converting about 300 keywords automatically 8)
and the list is outside of the compiled binary this means the user just
edits a plain text file for new keywords so no "programming" needed
to make your own lists

and the list goes on ...

may new apps to come http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... &start=400
since Bacon coverts everything you code from BASIC to C

Been playing with sbokpg slackbuilds.org (optional src2pkg backend ) and made this package.
lack of skill - prevents me form getting Midori from sbokpg. :)
but using sbokpg - i get two chances with slackbuild or src2pkg.
One would miss and the other might work?

Hey harii4

I wrote a kill connection command for that somewhere ??
I'll have to look though some threads to find it it was something simple

UPDATED command line to turn on or off

Code: Select all

ifconfig eth0 down

Code: Select all

ifconfig eth0 up

Code: Select all

ifconfig wifi0 down

Code: Select all

ifconfig wifi up

but you could also do it from blinky *right click on the blinky icon

in your case you could check wifi0 and eth0 to hide them

I already got communication to the parallel port working
http://basic-converter.proboards.com/in ... thread=191
this works and was tested by me
its simple but does the job
Joe

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

but now I am working on getting USB port communication going for TXZ

forum member volhout got this working so thats what I want to get going on TXZ
http://basic-converter.proboards.com/in ... 196&page=1

@volhout did a great job setting up USB port control
that is some work and was done in BaCon 8)

I 'd like to send a wake up call to everyone
what you can do in BaCon !

I compiled these packages for TXZ
http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/libftdi-0. ... 4_SLXR.tgz
http://www.puppy2.org/slaxer/libusb-1.0 ... 4_SLXR.tgz

and installed them I had to manually modeprobe the driver
but so far it looks like this will work!! :D

*this is in no way complete I am posting my progress though
to document the steps

Code: Select all

# dmesg | grep -i ftdi
# modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x403 product=0x6001
# dmesg | grep -i ftdi
usbserial: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Serial Device
usbcore: registered new interface driver ftdi_sio
ftdi_sio: v1.4.3:USB FTDI Serial Converters Driver

# dmesg | tail
eth0: link down
eth0: link down
eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x41E1
usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial
usbserial: USB Serial support registered for generic
usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial_generic
usbserial: USB Serial Driver core
usbserial: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Serial Device
usbcore: registered new interface driver ftdi_sio
ftdi_sio: v1.4.3:USB FTDI Serial Converters Driver

A new year and what has happened since I joined this forum

This is the third post I made to the forum in 2007 52.9MB
and it shows what I was thinking then about making a light version
removing the browsers and I was tired of the
constant changes leaving everyone in the dark
this is what I was thinking about five years ago !
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=22099

basically I havent changed my thoughts
except I want to rebuild everything following established
linux community tools such as pkgtools
and use a package format that hasn't changed in years

later I will use linux live scripts so that the live base will be 100%
distro compatible with the big brother linux
this would allow any distro to be used (slackware ,debian, arch ....)

then use home made packages for the light experience
like the community custom built for puppy

why not just use a script to make a live cd
then any distro could be used

Txz packages

#469 Post by alphadog »

Hi Joe (big-bass),
Just a quickie.I normally run Racy 5.2.2 but was trolling through this thread earlier when I came across this package "beautify-1.0-i486-5_SLXR.txr so I downloaded it and it installed perfectly !!
However this does throw up (to me anyway) another question ; will any txz package install in Racy?
Regards,
Pete
