How to compile modules for Lucid Puppy 500, 5.1?

#1 Post by puprag »

How do I compile modules, I am trying to compile alsa drivers, libs, utils But I'm not sure where to get the headers, does not seem to be any sfs kernel files for lucid, not sure which files are needed if I was to use ubuntu repo.

Great thanks this should be at the top of the page with every Lucid release.

Had to install 2.20.1-binutils and I install the dev of binutils too not sure if it was needed, also had to --disable-xmlto when building alsa drivers libs and utils
I think I have built the drivers and libs and utils but, I am getting nothing now, no alsamixer, when I do alsaconf it's updated to 1.0.23 can not modprobe anything, I think I need to link against the installed libraries not sure trying to work it out, what has err happened first time building with kernel.
.....

But this is a problem with puppy lucid drivers, libs are broke for some sound cards, even the newest release is the same, not sure I guess we will all have to rebuild it are selfs until one of the lucid pup team rebuild alsa for all sound cards, or comes up with a simpler solution.

when getting devx.sfs to work I kept getting errors on 5.1 when saving to a cd, changed to 500 still no luck but did not get errors did not try a flashdrive just used this method instead

Also did the above for the kernel, and it seemed to work, built alsa but now facing the above problem.
